my daughter and i went to the grocery store to get something for dinner tonight and next few nights. we decided that we were going to make spaghetti. when we got home, we found that her father had gone to the burger joint and bought hamburgers for himself, the boy, and other roommate. he didn't call us or text us to see if we were interested in having a hamburger. he never asked if there were dinner plans. just went out and bought only 3 hamburgers. so naturally, what's the point of making a big pot of spaghetti when only a few people are going to eat. so i had to go through the deep freezer to find something else to make. fortunately, hubby don't get home till 11 pm. but i hate eating that late and going straight to bed. so i'm frustrated that he failed to communicate AGAIN and ruined dinner plans and only thought of some people and not every one in the household. i'm so ready to go to bed and end this day. how do you handle frustration?

I don't think I'm good in handling frustration. That's why I just avoid it as much as I can. I don't think I can handle very well if I have to live in a household with various members of family and others in it. Too much considerations need to be respected or compromised from too many different people. I think I can only handle those among my own immediate family members at home...

I'm a bit confused by the relationships involved here. How does dinner usually work at your house? Does everyone normally eat together? Or do different people in the household normally eat separately or at different times? Is it assumed that you and Hubby and daughter normally eat separately together? Is the boy your son or the roommate's son?

it's my husband, my son, my daughter, my friend from high school, my ex husband and myself all living under one roof. my ex husband is the father of my children. my husband is their step father. rather unusual family set up, but almost works for most of the time. fortunately, when my son graduates this school year, the ex and the friend will be moving out. come next summer, it'll be just my kids, my hubby and me. :) :) :)

hi, well this happens in every family i feel, family members just don't think about the other members of the house, sometimes may be because they are with others people with whom they share their food, sometimes it just go out of their mind. But this really hurts other members of the family, who are waiting and thinking about them. They should realize this, and we should talk to them , when they are in good mood.

I need a bit more clarity on who is who? Is your daughter's father living with you all as a roommate, but you also have a husband there as well?? I kind of don't get it.

it's my husband, my son, my daughter, my friend from high school, my ex husband and myself. i'm helping my friend out, she moved to my house from another state. we let the ex husband move in as he needed help with his son (who is not my son). at this time, his son is now living in another state with his mother. my son will be graduating from high school and he will be moving out. so by next summer, it will be just my kids, my husband and myself again. :)
