The concept of the formation of a third front

Mamata Banerjee, the Supremo of the Trinamul Congress party (TMC) is very much keen in the formation of a third front constituting of non- Congress as well as non-BJP allies. Obviously neither Mamata Banerjee will accept the left parties, especially the CPM as a partner of the alliance nor Mamata Banerjee herself will be acceptable to those left parties. Thus the door of third front will remain open either to the TMC or to the CPM but never to both of them. So I think everything depends on the results of the coming Parliamentary election in 2014. All the veteran players in the game of politics who have been aspiring long for being crowned as the prime minister of India are now busy in keeping all options open to them for fulfilling their long cherished dream. Isn’t it?

I believe Mamatha has come out with a statement that this UPA government would not last for more than 6 months. And with this time frame in mind she is starting with the formation of the third front. Of course, a third front without Congress and BJP would be a good idea given the current set of scams and exposes. But, the parties that would join this third front in SP, BSP all have equally bad images. So I am not sure what will happen on this front. Cheers! Ram

Yes, all of them are equally corrupted like the Congress, BJP is comparatively clean as compared to them. But at the same time, it is equally true that BJP is not acceptable to Mamata as it would affect her Muslim vote-bank which she has achieved after so much hard work, at least on papers. Moreover, Mulayam would not be able to join hands with BJP. CPM also has the same problem to share the same platform with BJP. So excepting the allies of NPA, the only part left behind which can join hands with BJP is BSP of Mayabati.
