Gnocchi is one of my favorite italian dishes, but up to today I thought that all were made with potatoes. But today, watching one of those channels with chefs cooking, I saw gnocchi being made with flour and yogurt. I know that chefs change the normal dishes into creations of their own, but I just love traditional gnocchi. Have you tried them? Did you know that they could be made with several different ingredients? Do you like them? What is your favorite sauce for them? Share.

I thought so too, but although what I saw in TV was way too fancy, I read yesterday about gnocchi and it sems the traditional ones are made with several grains, such as semolina too.

Chefs on television have to glam things up to justify their existence. They add ingredients that the average paycheck-to-paycheck cook can't afford and won't use. As far as I'm concerned, gnocchi is potatoes. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I agree to that
! I have eaten happily potato gnocchi for maybe 60 years or so, so there`s no need to change now. I saw again the same program yesterday (I hate how TV make reruns of everything) and they also had ricotta and flour. Besides, they were not rounded but cut with a knofe. I wonder why they used the word gnocchi for that.

Fortunatly we have lots of awesome recipes at the web, now. Before internet, we had to have lots of cook books and sometimes we did not find there what we wanted.
