Why are you hiding your wrinkles?

I can understand hiding your wrinkles if they appear prematurely. For those who are fifty and above it is time the wrinkles are maintained which more often than not, add to one's dignity. What is your view on this. "3am Celebrity News By Mirror.co.uk 1 Comment 12 May 2010 11:04 Famous faces with ravishing wrinkles include Anna Ford, Twiggy and Judi Dench"

I may not have wrinkles yet.. But I have plenty of gray hair.. Granted I get made fun of by some people.. I am 30.. so its not that common to have the amount of gray hair that I do.. It is my nationality.. I am Native American, Indian... I like my gray hair.. I have earn every one of those hairs..lol I do not wear makeup or intend on doing so in the future.. Everytime a friend or family member tries its washed off within 15 mintues or less.. my face feels like its on fire with that stuff on.. Besides I am happy with my wrinkles and my gray hair.. and I usually dont dress up really nice every day because it hurts too much.. So I always tell people you dont like the way I look dont look.. and keep walking..

Thank you I use that statement quite often;-) or if that one doesnt get someone to just stop staring or being judgemently without saying a word..(more then likely you know what I am taking about) I say What? and if the person still looks I tell em take a picture it last longer.. I may decide to dye my hair one every other year just to have a change.. But it doesnt last long my hair grows fast.. And I really do like my unique look.. :-)

Yes. One has to earn the gray hair so also the wrinkles! Some take it as a reward but some take it as punishment. It is the mind set that decides that and for you it is a reward. Indeed a nice thought.

as a male i have no intentions of hiding my wrinkles, i've earned everyone of them. many folk ask me why i do not dye my hair but i love my grey head, it makes me look more intelligent. i would however get liposuction as i hate my gut, but then thats my fault for over eatting.

You will really earn it if you get your wrinkles say when you were around 20 as later than 50 would be a biological phenomena! I had to search the Net to know what liposuction is all about. That's a good thing 'cause you are doing it for health reasons. I too would have loved to do it as I am developing some fat around my waist.

I all depends on the stature of the person,I think because they are always having some public exposures like a movie star,a stage actor and actress,a ramp model,a certain entertainer. They must look vibrant and wrinkle free if possible in all their lives because they are famous and people expects more from their talents. If you are just a plain person who works daily to office, sales department,or just a plain individual,no hiding of your true self is necessary.People who can afford to make their appearance look younger especially nowadays that men also likes to look clean and have lots of other facial enhancements.I think the look depends on your capabilities to spend for your image to look great.

If it was only those who have a public life do that, may be, as you said it would seem acceptable but that is not the case. Every second person wants to look young and the fact that there are factories the world over producing anti wrinkle cream and hair dyes proves my statement! Most are conscious of their age, including myself

I find it sad that people can't accept getting older. I'm in my late 50s and although I don't have too many wrinkles (yet!), I don't hide those I do have, as for me they are part of my character. There's nothing to be ashamed about in ageing as everybody has a life story to tell, and the longer the life, the longer the story. I agree that wrinkles can add to one's dignity if one allows them to, rather than destroy it.

There are a lot of ways to hide those wrinkles nowadays. Specially if you have money to sustain those treatments to hide it on your face. But sooner or later it will appear and appear. It just prolonging the years where your wrinkles could be visible and easily noticed. BUt we can't hide aging. All of us will be experiencing it.

One needs to think twice before setting on a journey that will make one look younger but once there, it will be difficult to come back as without make up one would look worse than what they looked earlier without make up.

I agree with you, people look so dignified as they get older. I think it has to do with people being told that only young and skinny is beautiful. In my opinion some of the most handsome and beautiful people I know have wrinkles and graying hair. I think age makes people more beautiful and shows what kind of life they lived, especially laugh lines.

Hats Off!! - Hats off to you for your thinking
We are all slaves of society. Society has set a value that gives a lot of importance young looks no matter what age. "Why do you hide your wrinkles" is the same as why do you dye your hair? It all boils down to bowing down to society values. There are very few like yourself who think independently regardless of what society thinks. Hats off to you
