American Idol was not the first in the Idol series, the English American idol was. Simon Cowell was a judge on both shows. However, some contestants on American Idol was that they just wanted their five minutes of fame. They did not take the show seriously. Some contestants dressed up as a tomato and any other weird costume they could find. Of course their rational was to stand out and stand out they did but not in the way they wanted to. The show was professional and the judges were professional. Yes, you had the little digs between Paula Abdul and Simon however, that was just for entertainment. Unfortunately the new season has not even started yet and a cat fight has broken out between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. There are rumors of name calling and death threats (Nicki). Nigel Lithgoe, executive producer, denies the death threat; calling it absolute rubbish. Regardless of whether she said it or not, this behavior from the judges is not professional and the show resembles the Jerry Springer Show rather than a professional singing contest. If the judges cannot behave in a professional manner how can the contestants? Now let's go on to the X Factor. The show has started and we get a very unprofessional response from LA Reed who should know better. A man who has been in the business as long as he has should not show such negative emotions on the show. Instead of acting like a professional he acted like a spoiled child who didn't get the group he wanted. He wanted the teens and got the over 25 group. Imagine how the older singers feel knowing that their mentor didn't want them? These incidents are big enough for me to prefer watching The Voice, whose judges simply indulge in playful competitiveness.

I like American Idol for a very long time. It is mostly because of Simon really. The season that I really watched every episode was when David Archuleta was on. I just think he is absolutely adorable. I stopped watching American Idol when Simon left and when they start adding random judges. I like The Voice better right now. My favorite judge is Blake. I think he is super funny.
