I am not in a good mood today because i am worrying about my current job.I graduated from university in July and now i am working as a admin clerk in a Singapore company which is located near my home.Nevertheless,it s a metaling production company while my major is journalism, there exist enormous difference between two fields. As a result, i can just do a grassroot work which is paid low salary. Now comes the problems.I had worked for more than six months and it s hard to find a chance of promotion. So i have no idea whether i will go on my work and wait for the opportunity of get promoted or make up my mind to look for a decent job which is relevant to my major.

Thanks for posting this discussion. Well i can understand your situation very well. I think what u should do at the moment is work hard in your present job and gain as much of experience as u want and at the same time try applying to those posts which u think u can give full justice. Either way u will be benefited at large. Try to stay positive all the time and i am sure u will get a good job. What say?

Hi,joyce1130: I think its up to your interest. If you enjoy his kind of work, enjoy the atmosphere in your company, then you can learn what you need and get promoted one day though your major is not the same field as company.Find time to calm down and figure out what you want is.

I am a nurse professionally but I don't work as one. Base on my experience working in a field too far from my profession, I should say you should find a job that you can practice what you have graduated. Even if the salary is small, at least you have experience already. It is hard to look for a job these days, so better start looking now while still working in your current job. I'm sure you will surely be able to practice what you have graduated from.

You can start looking now. There' s no harm in trying. Amidst your job hunting you might find something more aligned to your degree with a good pay. But while there's no definite offer just stay there since you also need your salary to pay all your bills etc.

I can understand where you are coming from. If you really feel like there will be no growth for you there, then there shouldn't be any more reason for you to prolong your agony. I am not saying you should quit now, remember, never quit from a job unless you already have another one waiting for you. You can start sending out your resumes now and arrange interviews in your free time. Continue working in your current job even though you are no longer happy there. Do your best still, afterall you wouldn't want to leave a bad impression there, right? If ever a background check was done for you, at least your current employer will not have any bad things to say about you.
