Having trouble with my job prospect...

I yearn for the solution about my job. My present major research field is not the mainstream direction in our institute, and not attached importance to as well. With the adjustment of the organization, the quantity of research projects becomes much less than before and the situation is not as good as enough. The colleagues of mine all have to prepare something for the conditions. The most of them could still have the projects the next years due to their major field, but I don't have one. It makes me frustrated and worried. My major is too special to be suitable for the other companies or institutes in the city, and I could not leave for the companies in other city, because my family and friends are all living here. So I have to study other things to prepare for changing the job in the future when not working. The pressure for job and money is very great. What's your opinion when you face the situation? Please give some ideas.

even i had the same thing i used to be worried,its better if you either accept challenges and move on or else wait for things to work out

I know the feeling. I have a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Studies and I cannot find work in my field. I have applied to several jobs and get turned down because I am over qualified. I am going to look into selling Avon and some of my crafts just to make ends meet. Just hang in there and pray.

My dad has a Ph.D in Marine Biology. For 15 years, he was working at the National Museum. His salary was not that big and so when I entered College he needs to find a job that would sustain the family. Having that degree doesn't offer much job in our country. And if ever there would be offers, the salary that they offer is quite small. He decided to work abroad. he was offered 10x his salary here in our country. He had to sacrifice working abroad for 8 years just to be able to send all of his 3 kids to College. And with that, he was also able to send money to make our house bigger. We didn't become rich. We just had enough for our daily needs and some savings.
A little sacrifice could make a huge difference.[i][/i]

Thanks for your sharing. Your father is the great parent and I admire him for making effort to support the whole family. However, my situation is a little different. I just got married last year and expect to be pregnant ASAP due to my age. The woman has to pay much more time and energy for the family including taking care of the parents, especially after having the kid, not only to earn the more salary. It's not easy for the woman to go other places to find a job except facing with the high risk of divoice. Living apart for the long period is not imaginable and accepted for the family in general.

I'm sorry to hear that you are facing trouble in your job. Just don't loose your hope. Sometimes we need to sacrifice things for the betterment of our family. Like you mentioned you couldn't give up the company because of some important reason. Yes! that's true pressure in life nowadays is very great. Just believe in yourself!
