I saw a program called Misfits. It was about American pregnant teenagers going to live in a home and then them have their baby adopted to a loving couple. The couples wishing to adopt had suffered infertility and failed test tube baby making efforts. The teenagers had got pregnant and decided they weren't able to keep their babies due to economic problems and some of them had drug or alcohol problems.
One white lady got pregnant by a black man. She already had a daughter of around one year old. The black man was in jail when she found out she was pregnant. She found it hard to find the perfect couple to adopt her baby boy. She found it hard to sign her name on the adoption paperwork. She desperately wanted to keep her baby boy but she knew she had no money to keep him.
It is a shame that there were not any black couples wishing to adopt the babies. Some of the mothers were black. I think that the teenagers were lovely to adopt their unwanted babies rather than kill them in abortions. I would like to see adoption becoming a lot more popular.
What do you think?

It's not always the couples that don't want the baby because of there mix it has to do more with the mother. If she was so wanting to keep him then there wouldn't be any other parents in the world that would ever seem right to her to hand over here little one.

It's common nowadays that pregnant teens wanted their child to be adopt for another couples who have problem of infertility. Even one of my friends I experience it wanted to adopt the baby and I even adopt the mother while pregnant.
It's ashamed for many of their family but they don't want to tell the real story to them so I keep her in my home.

Back before the 1970s it was common for pregnant unmarked girls to go to Homes for unwed mothers and wait for some nice couple to adopt. Their babies. Back then you tried to match the background, ethnic and religious group of the babies bad the adopted couple. That made it easier for the couple to bond more and avoid people saying they were wonderful to afoot a child of a different race. Believe me we adopted people are too embarrassed and do not feel we are so wonderful. I do wish that more black people would adopt. A child who is part black can blend in a white family esp. If the family is olive skinned, but a child Whois very dark might have a problem. It is better then abortion. No baby deserves to die because of their parents being too eager.

Hi Maxine,
it is a great problem in Western countries specially in America. In Eastern societies teenagers remain under parents care. But in the West the teenagers lead free life and many of them became derailed. To get pregnant at teenage is an bad example of leading free life at under age. If unwanted babies get shelter to kind hearted couples then it is well and good. Otherwise it creates problem for the society.

In one way its good, at least the children at getting the home. And they get the parents too. Otherwise they may be left some road side , or some even kill them . As you mentioned the problems, they may act as barrier for the teenagers to keep the children , an done way its good atleast they are going in safer hands who really need them.

I think abortion is just as noble a choice as adoption Or keeping the baby. The key is for the ultimate choice be the mother's not society or her family. If a mom is forced to have a abortion Or give the baby up for adoption then she will be destroyed and the same will happen if a mother is forced to deliver and raise a baby she does not want. So all choices are noble when they are the correct choice for the mother and her alone.
As for biracial or black babies not getting adopted I blame the agencies . I heard that the agencies discourage white couples from adopting black or mixed race children. Why? They want the babies or children to feel more comfortable. So they remain in care. Why don't more black couples adopt? I don't think there is just one answer. It Could be financial Or the agency won't let singles adopt. Or many black families already have their children. But you can say that about Any race of people these days. this is why I blame the agency for thinking Only a married straight couple can adopt. There are single people of every color and gay couples of every color and many interracial couples who would Love to adopt. This better start changing or these systems will have more children that will Never get adopted.

Adoption to a person who is pregnant and doesn't want to keep the baby is an option that is never introduced. In America its sad because when we don't want something we just throw it away, we don't think about those who don't have, we only think about ourselves, we are selfish. In order for adoption to become a choice there has to be some morality and spirituality involved. The problem is that people who choose abortion don't go to church and think that the church will judge them because they are pregnant out of wedlock, and they are right, who needs that added pressure when you find out you're pregnant. Adoption keep a beating heart alive and gives the baby a chance to be loved by somebody who cannot have a child of their own. Abortion stops a beating heart and causes years of depression.

I agree with you, Maxine, about wanting adoption to be more popular. In Chile in legal adoptions it is difficult to go through all the paperwork and many kids do not find parents who will love them because the cannot get through all the red tape. Some others quit trying that way and "buy" babies in remote areas with the aid of midwives or whoever helped the mothers who gave birth. I am sure babies would be much safer with their adopted parents if the legal adoption center was more flexible and social workers worked faster.

Adoption is still the best solution than abortion.
I admire young teens who never resort to abortion but rather choose for an adoption after giving birth.
I don't want to judge those teenage girls for being irresponsible (sleeping with guy, getting pregnant and give their baby for adoption)
There are many reasons why teenage pregnancy happens and it's really sad when the society starts condemning them instead of understanding these young people and giving them support.

I have watched that show online here in Mexico. We have a problem here as well, with young kids getting pregnant. Here, there is no real help for them. Sure wish there was a program here for that.
