What gift do your kids usually ask for?

Good morning people.
Its my niece 5th birthday today. I found out to my mom that her mom, my sister, is on leave today cause my niece will have small celebration in their class this afternoon. According to my mom, my sister will bring some food like spaghetti and sandwich in their class for birthday treat.
I just wondering what gift should I give since I don't have kids yet. I planned to asked my niece last night when I got home from work but she was already asleep. I take my chance this morning to ask but she was still sleeping when I leave the house.
I am planning to buy her a toy or a doll but she already have some. Clothes would be dine but I do hope that I will buy a nice one that she will surely like cause I am not really good in buying clothes for others.
You folks, what gift do your kids ask for or expected to received? What gift do you usually give to them that they will surely like?

A nice stuff toys would be the best for here. Kids like stuff toys specially during sleeping time. They want it beside them while sleeping. I don't have any kids yet but by next year I will have one. My wife will deliver our first baby. I am now so excited

Well stuffed is one of my choices thats running in mind. One thats is quite huggable so that she could cuddle while sleeping.

I don't have kids but my nephew always asks for toys. Toy cars to be exact. Even if he has tons already, he still asks for one every weekend. For girls, they usually like to dress up so I think you should buy a dress or clothes. She will like it for sure because little girls really appreciate everything given to them.

My nephew always like toy cars. I bought him ball but he rather play cars than ball.
Dress would be nice for my niece but I am afraid of choosing the size that might fit to her thats why I am quite hesitant.

Oh, I bought a goddaughter a gift once and I haven't even seen her yet ever since. I asked her mom what possible size is her daughter with clothes and then I asked a sales lady to help me which size fits best with a 2 year old girl. So, why don't you ask your sister what size your niece is maybe that will help

Though I still don't have a kid to call my own. However, I have nieces and nephews which I usually have presents during special occassions. I recently gave a mountain bike to my nephew last week for he requested it. Usually, I give clothes and gift certificates to toy stores to my "kids". They usually expect it, during their birthdays, christmas etc. That's why I'm making a list this early, so no one is forgotten. Thanks

Oh they asked bike before but not advisable for the moment since there are no much space outside and road is quite rough so they might not enjoy riding and playing it.

Hi friend, good to hear about your niece. Convey my b'day wishes to her. I have 2 sons with 3 and 5 years old, most of the times they are expecting toys as their gift and we are giving various educational toys to them to teach them. What is your gift to your niece?

Regarding the gift to niece,usually we will think of doll and clothes,but due to you had eliminate the doll and clothes,then I think some fairy tale books is OK,girls always love the fairy tale story,right?
But actually I think clothes will be never out of choice,if you really do not know what to buy,then clothes will be a good option,if you really do not good at buying clothes then you can ask some of your friends to come with you and give you advices,and you also need to learn how to buy clothes,right?It is necessary for everyone.

Clothes would always be a great choice just like stuffed toys but I am not good in buying clothes for kids. Maybe I should really learn it since I have a niece and nephew. I am afraid that the size may not fit and quite lazy in changing items in the customer service center of the mall lol.

my niece always ask me on a barbie set...not for playing but for displaying only. She really likes anything as long as it is a barbie collection. Though she don't play it but she love to display and just watch it..she really care for everything that is given her....so, i felt happy for that.

Oh she like barbie a lot too and already have some. I also saw thag some gift are barbie and dolls. Never had chance to saw the others so I maybe end up of buying a cute huggable stuffed toy.

For me the best gift that you can ever give to your niece is "love". it can't be replace by any material thing that she will receive today. at least your gift is something unique. something remarkable.she won't appreciate it as of this moment since she is still young but when she grow old you can gain respect from her.
But this time she is still young. she deserve a material thing. you are with her everyday, based on your observation, what does she like most?you can probably buy her an educational CD, so she can watch it and learn from it. you can also buy clothes for her.those are some of the ideas that are coming to my mind right now.

Oh my love for her and to her will always be there.
On top of my list for now is a huggable stuffed toy but I think something educational is quite a great idea and fun.

Ardoy, every year when comes to his birthday, he will be asking for building set like Lego. He likes building new things a lot. There is a year that he even asking for a bicycle and we bought it as a gift for him. We usually would ask him first before we buy any gift. Because if the gift that we bought is not of his favorite, he won't touch it. When comes to gift, my son is quite choosy. I think every children have their own choice of gift.

Oh I like playing lego too lol.
Yeah right, kids are now quite choosy and know toys that they want unlike before that we are happy when we received any toys. I didnt buy any toys yet cause quite undecided which one to buy. Maye I could try to ask her tomorrow morning cause she was already sleep when I got home.

I do not have any kids, but I have three nephews and a niece. Since it is close to Christmas I know the kids keep on dropping hints and saying that they want every toy the see on TV. My niece is 7 years old and she loves to make things, loves Hello Kitty and Barbies. I always buy her something Hello Kitty and also a kit. This year I am buying her a weaving loom kit so she can make a couple of pot holders. I will also make her a Hello Kitty doll. I found a kit and will sew it for her. All little girls love dolls so I think she would love a baby doll.

Oh she really love Barbie in fact she is quite few of it now and some are quite left behind. I going to sneak to gifts that she received so I could an idea which gift to buy. But I will try to just ask her tomorrow morning if she is already awake before I go to work.

Hi ardoy! I love it when my children are much younger,I can give them anything and they would be happy for it. Now that they are growing older, you cannot just give anything. They are already setting their own standards. My son would say, oh it's okay you don't give me a gift this Christmas mom, see? I was happy already, but then,after a while, he added for as long as I have a new motorcycle on my birthday on January. Waah!

Yeah as kids we can give them anything we gave and just accept it but now there are times that they are quite choosy lol. They are enjoying toys so far but for sure as they grow older they become more choosy and smart enough to ask something that they really wanted as you have said. I guess I better start saving more now lol.

Toys would really nice but she is quite have lots since i used to buy her toy once in awhile. But it could end up into buying if I dont have any option at all and run out of time to think of.

Hi Ardoy, I think your niece would love the dolls and clothes especially if it's comes from you. My nephews asked for bicycle for their birthday last Sept so i gave it to them. My niece which is 11 years old doesn't want anything because she was very shy, so i decided to go out with her to shop for her personal things and some clothes, We also ate in her favorite restaurant and watch movies. IT served as our bonding time.

Oh girls are really quite shy to asked what gift they want sometimes. They asked bicycle one time but there is no much space in the house and outside. My nephew is the one who is more vocal cause he always saying to buy him toy car every time I say goodbye to him when going to work. When I go to work and he was already awake, he will give me goodbye kiss then will say "buy me toy car tito" lol.

Kids usually ask for toys but for me if were to give them something.I would give them what they really needed like clothes and things that they use in school.I remember one time giving a scrap book to my friend's daughter because I have ask her mother about what she like.She is really fond of collecting stationary notebooks.

I used to buy her toys once in a while or during payday. Scrapbook would not be advisable for now since she was still five. In terms of clothes, I would like to buy it as gift but quite hesitant that the size wont fit her.
