How are you when you have less than 6 hours of sleep? Me, I'm cranky and impatient when I have less than 6 hours of sleep. I think and act slow when I lack sleep. I'm like a ZOMBIE. :D

I've been a zombie for the longest time. Nowadays, I could go through the day even with just 4 hours of sleep. As long as I've had my coffee in the morning. I just trained my body to go through with the sleep-deprivation during the week, and then I sleep in on the weekend. And if I don't get to sleep in on the weekend, that's when I get cranky!

Hello Bounce! :) wow, good for you that you can adjust to mere four hours of sleep.. That I can't do. Even if it means sleeping in on weekends. I could be the most horrible person to be with when I slept for less than 6 hours for several days. Lol!! Thanks for the response. :)

When I don't have enought sleep, the next day I will keep on drinking tea to make me feel energetic and remove the tiredness. Tea helps me a lot if I don't sleep enough. But it does not mean that I can work as efficiently as usual. So having enough hours of sleep is the key to my efficient work. Have a good day.

Hello again, thanks for the response. :) May I know what kind of tea do you drink? I need to cut on coffee and I'm thinking that maybe tea is a good alternative to perk me up. :)

I think that everybody needs a different amount of sleep per night, and some people would actually be able to function well on this amount. Personally, I know that I need at least eight hours sleep in order to be able to get everything done that I need to the next day. It is important that you should find out how much sleep you need, and then work on trying to get the amount that is correct for you. Getting enough sleep can make a huge difference on your every day life and the way that you feel, so you would do well to have a go at working it out.

Yes, it is important to know how much sleep is needed. When I was in law school, I can function well after six hours of sleep. However, now that I'm working,I need at least seven hours of sleep. Or more, LoL!! Thanks for the responses GemmaR.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well sleep is very much essential when it comes to having a good sound health. If we do not get a good sleep then we are automatically the victim of various ailments. In such cases where i am having only 6 hours of sleep, i will go mad with crazy and would jump on to the bed to grab those 6 hours of sleep at least, otherwise i will go mad the next day without any sleep. He he he. What say?

I think I will still be fine even if I had less than 6 hours of sleep the night before. Unless of course this has been going on for 2 days or more, then I will also be a zombie and no amount of caffeine can make me snap out of it. Also, it would take me lots of days before I can fully recover so it is never a good thing for me to skip precious hours of sleep.

As an engineering student, lack of sleep is just normal for us. Last semester, I use to sleep 5-6 hours a day. And I was very normal. And I felt really good. And I heard somewhere that people have different tendencies. Some needs more sleep and some are okay with just a little time of sleep. The normal is around eight hours. For me, sleeping six straight hours is enough rest. But I know of a great person who only sleeps four straight hours a day and he is very healthy. He is a missionary who use to preach regularly on a catholic community where I am very much active right now.

Thanks for the response. :) I need at least six hours of sleep in order to be alert and productive the whole day. I also know of other people who are very active despite a few hours of sleep each day.

I feel the same too. I feel impatient when I lack of sleep and seems my head is empty. But there are times that even too much sleeping gives me the same feeling too

I think because of my age, sleeping about 5-6 hours is okay. Coz even if I lack sleep at night, I could not sleep in the morning. I'd be having a headache if I did. So what I do if I lack sleep? I just make myself busy online or just watch tv.

I am a severe chronic insomniac. it is going on 4:15 a.m. my time and I still have not been able to go to sleep. I might get a couple of hours later. I will not feel well today and I will feel very cranky. I will be so exhausted that I will not be able to do very much. Tonight, Wednesday night, I will sleep and feel good but then I possibly will not sleep the following night. I sleep one night and can not sleep the next night orr two nights in a row and then I can not sleep at all the third night. I developed insomnia in 1975 and have not had one normal sleep since. I have been diagnosed as Primary Insomnia I which is a neurological problem. It has ruined my life.

Sorry to hear that. :( It is difficult to cope with lack of sleep, what more if you don't have any sleep at all.. Anyway I know you have somehow find ways on how to deal with your insomnia. Thanks for the response.

I already sleep the biggest part of my life way less as 6 hours, even not 4 hours a night. Somehow you get used to it although I mostly do feel broke. I have slept for about 20 years only 2 hours a night. I wish I could sleep more but I think it will take a lot of time to get back to normal or even better get some extra sleep. Mostly the extra sleep I catch at day time if possible (which mostly isn't).
