Team Sports or Individual Sports

Many institutions and organisations have been using sports as part of the companies get together kind of activity and most of the time is team sports. Well it is true that team sports can make people work together well. The thing is team sports will only focus on one area of aspect for example like soccer. Actually individual sports can also make people work together and also can really see each other area of expertise for example track and field. Very seldom institutions and organisations use individual sports as part of their get together activity as these sports focus on many areas of expertise. So is team sports or individual sports is worthwhile doing as a cooperation event?

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i think both team sports and individual sports are crucial in a company. This is because while team sports will imbibe the quality of togetherness and the ability of working together in a team in an individual, on the other hand individual sports will help an individual to handle a situation in a better way. So in a way whichever sports an individual is asked to participate he will be benefited at large. What say?

I have the same sentiments as you, subjojit. I like team sports for the social factor when I play basketball, for example. But I also like solo sports for the development of one's character when I play tennis. I would say you could also develop your character with team sports but in my opinion it would be faster and better in solo sports because you rely only upon yourself to try to conquer all the difficulties and test in the chosen sport. So I think it would be good if one would have both a team sport and a solo sport.

Personally, I prefer team sports. There are many aspects to a team sport like say soccer. However, good a striker you are, till your midfielder releases that killer ball, you cannot finish the job. In corporates, often work is similar, however good you are in your job, you depend on others to be in a position to finish it off. I think that is one big lesson you learn in team sport that you do not in an individual sport. Of course, these days even individual sports are team sports given that each individual sportsperson has his own team of advisers, doctors, managers etc. working for him. But for corporate events, such arrangements are not possible. So I prefer team sports to individual sports for these events. Cheers! Ram

I have wanted to start playing a sport for a long time, but one of the unfortunate things is that I live in a small village and there is nothing available for us to do. I would much prefer to be able to play as part of a team than playing on my own because I think that it feels good to be in a team. I am hoping to move to a new village relatively soon, and if I am able to do this then I am sure that I can join a team. This will be good because it means that I would be able to get fit as well as being able to be a part of a team.
