Do you think there are any 'work ethics' out there any more? Does anyone care?

I have experienced over the years the continual decline of work ethics in this world! I mean it used to matter that you came to work on time, you dressed appropriately, you did your job and tried to do it well; but now, it seems alot of people want to complain and say they don't make money or have a job yet, they don't want to work for it! They want things handed to them...make the money but don't work for it!
I don't know, maybe it's me....but that's just my opinion.

Thanks a ton for posting this discussion. Well yes u are absolutely right, even i find people these days who are no more interested in working hard and earning money for themselves. They are only interested to earn money in a faster way and get success by short cut methods. They are not even following the office rules and guidelines and always take pleasure in breaking them. They should realize the fact that work is worship.

I am glad to see you agree. It is crazy! I have hired contractors to do specific jobs, started them out with a great hourly pay, been very supportive and they still do not work!! I have had to fire so many people it is unreal! And yet they complain about no work, no job and have the never to ask why?
I just don't understand the mentality of people now...it's a lazy, give me, attitude, like they are 'owed' something!
I have to work for a living and I understand that. I deal with businesses all the time and I know you have to have respect, be punctual and follow through and plus let's not forget committment.
Then you can sit back and take pride in your accomplishments for a job well done!

I am so surprised no one else commented on this discussion. I am so puzzled by that. I actually thought it would get some response and we could get some good banter going....sigh....oh well, can't win them all! Thank you subhojit10 for commenting!
