a feature i think we mylotters need

i think we all need a "please respond" button, which could be similar to the "rate this" button you see on every comment.
sometimes, when a mylotter makes a comment, you'd wish that he'd reply to your rejoinder. how could that mylotter read your mind? no one has invented the telepathy chip yet!
i believe the "please respond" button should make that possible. when one makes a comment to an already posted comment and he wishes that the former mylot poster see the comment, he could click on the "please respond" button for that subdiscussion thread. on clicking this button, a link with a brief of what was needed should be sent to the original mylotter who can at his or her discretion decide to or not to respond.
on the other hand, we are all busy persons and the button should be used judiciously.
what do you say to that? will anyone say "aye" to my suggestion?

I think that's what notifications are for. If you set it so then you'll be notified when someone comments on your response.

Mike, yes there is. That is the only notification I have "marked" under notifications. The rest I do not have checked. I get notifications only for those comments on other people's discussions, when people comment on those.
I will not get one here if you respond to me though because this is silentwill's box.

Is that so? So what is that option for? Will only the original responder get the notification? For each comment? I don't have it on because I have all notifications off so if that's the case I don't really know.

Why have the notifications off? too much email? That's why I have everything else unchecked and my friends notifiers off for emails

There are notifiers in your actual emails for most things.
I would like this only for the first box conversation. That is the only thing I could see a use for it but that would be helpful at times.

Yeah I totally agree with that. If I do comment on someone elses response I will usually keep my own box as well. So that way at least hopefully someone will respond on my box and I can also see the comments I left and if they are being active there too. But this is not a fail proof method and I do have to go back and see for myself in the "responded" tab.

if you make lots of comments and you are interested if there was a follow up respond in like more than three, going back to all of them is somewhat stressful. we all want an effortless browsing experience. because of the pain involved, i chose to ignore some comments i have made, whether there was a follow up comment or not, but for some, i bookmark the page when i think i real need a follow up comment and visit the page from time to time.
if we have notifications for follow up comments, added to digesting the emails in our inbox, i think it'll go a long way to further the interests of what we came to mylot for, and our own interests also.

If the set to receive notification , I think they would receive respond . I also get what you are saying , it would be great if you could say respond but if you tell the person in your respond to please reply and they have the notification setting they will see .
I think you have a good suggestion
