In Massachusetts there will be something for you to vote for other then Presidency. Its the "Death with Dignity Act" where if a doctor gives you six months or less to live you can take a dosage of pills to kill yourself. However, many times the doctors are wrong on how long you have to live. I think this should not be passed at all because everyday miracles happen in this world. I can understand someone not wanting to be rescuated but to be given pills to kill yourself is a bit much in my opinon. What do you think and I'm wondering especially for the people voting in Massachusetts, how you feel about this? There is a website explaining it and the reasons it should not be passed. Go too www.dignitydeception.com for information on this.

I'm not from Massachusetts, not evenfrom the same country but I'm just here to express my opinion anyway.
Doctors are professionals and often they help us out when we get sick or need medical attention, but they are not God. And that bill to me sounds to like playing God. And even if for cases that are not exactly life-threatening, I sometimes don't agree with their advice or recommendations, because that's why they are so-called. Doctors are generally intelligent people but they also make mistakes. It's true that there are conditions that are hopeless but I agree with you that most of the times doctors are wrong in predicting how long one has to live. And I also believe in miraculous healing and one's desire and will to live can extend life far beyond what the doctors say.
This to me is an extreme evolution of Euthanasia. With that I may have my reservations depending on the circumstances but this one? Just no. It's freaky that I can't get the thought of a mad doctor having this kind of 'license to kill' prescribing this pill even to those whose conditions are not desperate at all.

Yes miracles happen everyday and like you said it sounds like the bill is playing God. I think its just to scary to allow such a bill to pass. Thank you for your response.

I think people should have a choice whether they want to live out the last months of their lives. Few people would choose to live in pain, draining their family's finances and emotions.
The insurance companies probably will be pouring a lot of money into this because it saves them from spending a lot of resources if the person chooses to end their life.
I think people would be better served by being educated about hospice care choices. That's dignified and gives everyone time to say goodbye and put their affairs in order while being kept comfortable and pain free.

Hiya lelin,
Once I knew a lady next door as much as my Mom and they gave her six months to live at the most.
Thirty years down the line she was still alive.
Okay I know there are dire cases and those people should have a choice and be allowed to do what they want to do if they do not want a hospice or anything like that they are within their rights not to go there.

I think that if a disease is terminal or incurable, then it's up to the patient to make a living will to what course should be taken in case such an unfortunate event would happen regarding the end stages of his/her life. It some sort of easing out the pain from the disease, as well as the family or loved ones.

I couldn`t agree more. The vote should be whether a person can make that decision and how a hospital can help with the right kind of meds.
