A fantastic mersey side derby ends 2-2!!

The Mersey side derby lived up to all the pre-match expectations and was a cracking match. Liverpool took the lead through an own goal by Leighton Baines which was created by Suarez. Suarez who was on song in the first half then scored the second with a nice headed goal. But Everton hit back immediately through Osman and then equalized through Naismith before the half time. The second half was barren, but was full of action as well. Suarez should have been sent off for an ugly needless tackle on Distin, but survived with a yellow card. In the last minute of injury time, Suarez scored a perfectly fine goal, but was wrongly flagged offside by the linesman. So ideally Suarez should not have been on the pitch, but as he was he should have scored the winner!! But as things go by, the match ended 2-2!! And Suarez won the man of the match for his troubles. Cheers! Ram

I haven't seen the game, but judging after what you say, it was a fantastic game, with a horrible refereeing. This underlines my "theory", which states that the referees from Great Britain are the worst in Europe, I don't understand how come they are delegated by UEFA to blow the whistle in international games. They are horrible and they are capable of destroying the games.

Actually in this match, the refereeing was very good except for the final decision which definitely was a wrong decision. The worst refereeing of the weekend was in the Chelsea - Man United match which was really horrible. Cheers! Ram

For referees it is very important to not make capital mistakes, even if they have blown the whistle excellently till that point. If a referee makes a mistake which influences severely the final result, then it means that he has done a bad job. Like an athlete who leads in the first 90meters but then slips and loses the race. As for Mark Klattenburg, he should be taken out of the phenomenon, because it is clear for me that he has no idea of refereeing.

Yes, I agree with that. Unfortunately, in this instance, he had to go with the linesman's flag and hence people are giving him the leeway as he did not have the direct view of the incident and hand to depend on the linesman's judgement who got it wrong. Cheers! Ram

It was a great match! That last goal should have counted! He was onside! There were two odd things that happened. One, a foul on the Everton goalie? Why? And a yellow flag for diving? Really? It was great to see a guy get called for diving! I was wrong. I really thought Everton would win by one but they almost lose by one! Thanks for letting me know what time the match was going to air.

I think that liverpool was really unlucky not to win this one . The last goal should have stand and should be a total 3 points to liverpool.

Yes, but Everton fans would argue that Suarez should not have been on the pitch for that bad tackle on Distin. :) Cheers! Ram

Its the nature of football some decisions go your way and others go against you.We were lucky not to have had Suarez sent off and then unlucky not getting the goal.Though personally I can live with that,at least we have got Suarez available for the next match.Especially considering the ability he has shown today how Liverpool has started the season we need all our best players to give us as many good performances as possible. And a draw is better than nothing if you look at Liverpool's form this season.A point is better nothing.

I think Liverpool would be happy with one point. And after the start that Liverpool got, Everton would also be happy with one point. And as a spectator I was also happy with the match. Cheers! Ram

It was indeed a proper Mersey derby. Full of actions, goals and controversy. In the end, as a neutral, I clearly enjoyed watching the game. Despite all the talking about how Liverpool should have won, I think the 2-2 draw is a fair result.

Yes, I agree the result was a fair reflection of both team's performance. But the fact remains that Liverpool had the ball in the goal a third time perfectly legally. But the linesman got it wrong to deny them all the three points. Cheers! Ram

I think it was a classical derby with players from both sides giving it their all. Cheers! Ram
