Finally a new home!

In the area that we live there are always pets/ animals running loose. Most have owners that occasionally their dog gets out. However, this one dog was roaming the streets for about a month and was becoming very skinny and would cower down if you would try to get close to her like people were abusing her. My sister-in-law decided to take her in and of course she knew that the owner might come back and get their dog. About a week or so later, sure enough the owner came and took the dog out of my sister-in-laws fenced in area (my sister-in-law was not home at the time.) Then maybe about a month or less went by and the owner of the dog came back and gave the dog back to my sister-in-law. Apparently they ended up in jail for a month and a relative was supposedly taking care of the dog, which they weren't. When they got out of jail they found the dog at my sister-in-laws and just took it back. Well, now they're moving to a different place and can't have a dog. Since they knew my sister-in-law had been taking care of the dog, they decided to let her have her back because my sister-in-law would take care of the dog. So now this is a happy ending! Do you mylotters ,have any happy ending stories of any animals?

I am so glad he has a stable home. We sit for my neighbor's dog often. We just love him. He is like a member of the family. We always look forward to dogsitting him.

That's awesome that you dogsit for your neighbor! Some people just shouldn't be dog owners. We have a dog and we love other dogs too!

I agree with you! Even though I'm not a cat lover, we had a kitten one time tha twas abandoned and it would come around our house and it was so skinny and frail. We started feeding it and paying attention to it, but we just couldn't afford to keep it so we took it to the animal shelter.

I just hope the original owners don't come back again and take it. Not only does it confuse the animal, but it hurts the people involved in taking care of it. I've lived where people would drop off strays and I always made posters to hang in public places to find them homes. Luckily, I don't have to do that anymore, I don't live in such a remote location now.

She is also a very, caring loving person! She spoils her dog that she already has as well as our dog! Thanks for joining this discussion!

We had a dog for a short time that was given to us and being passed from owner to owner. It didn't take us long to figure out why this dog was getting passed around. Beautiful to look at but it had some behavioral problems. Frankly I'm not a dog trainer and didn't have time or money for obedience school. I thought the dog would be a great dog for someone but they would have to know exactly what they were getting into and pretty much I required that they prove to me they were up to the task. We found a good owner who knew how to train her. I felt good that we made sure the dog went to an appropriate home instead of passing her off on the next sucker.

If we ever get to living in the country again a good dog would be a welcome companion on my morning chores. Not going to happen real soon though.

Some times people don't realize just how much work having an animal is. Also, some times when a pet has had different owners it's hard to adjust to the raising of the animal just as well as an animal being passed around. You did the right thing and were lucky to have found a good owner who knew how to train her. We've had our puppy since she was weened from her mother. In fact my husband delivered the pups. My husband's mom (my mother-in-law) had a dog that had the litter. So we have had contact with her ever since she was born and wouldn't trade her for anything in the world.

I'm glad the poor dog is finally with someone stable to care for it. I think it will be a happy ending for any dog who finds a stable and secure home with no abusers involved. Abusers are cowards any way you look at them. If they were abused themselves then the only logical thing is to learn from that and become the better person and be the opposite. But there are crazy people out there and to think some of the greatest animals and people get stuck with them is appalling.

Totally agree with you! Some times the dogs are smarter than their owners! What's the point of having an animal if a person just abuses them? Even if a person is abused they should realize that that isn't the right thing to do and they have a choice of deciding to make some one's life better.

I think it is great that your sister in law was willing to take the dog in to begin with and I am glad that the owner gave the dog back so it could continue to have a loving home. My sisters girlfriend is a sucker for a dog in need. I remember last year there was a dog she took in because it was so stick skinny you could see all of its rib bones. Sadly that dog is no longer with her. It didn't get along with her other dogs well. They picked on the poor little thing. She kept this dog in a cage away from the other dogs while she was working for its safety. One night while she was at work her house burned down and since this dog was locked in a cage in an attempt to protect it, it was unable to escape the fire. I know you were looking for a happy ending, but this one stuck out in my head.
