Political dynasty … what is your stand on this?

Politics seems to be a monopoly now, as we are hearing the same family names for candidates on every posts available and in some districts/provinces it is not only one but multiple members of families/clans are vying for national and local positions and even being a representative to a party-list group was not spared just to be in power. It can’t be denied that political dynasties are now all over the country and there are already various sectors opposing this practice as this thwarts very deserving individuals without political clout the chance to prove their worth. Do you think people’s initiative which is being considered now by some sectors to bring an end on this practice will work? And, are you in favor of this initiative?

I think political dynasties are okay... as long as they do their job.. It the family is known to be good leaders, then it would be nice if the entire family was in politics too. They can make the town prosper. Rut if they are only in it for the money and power.. then they should be stopped.. Not all political dynasties are bad.. The ones in our place is bad though..

I agree with you too if it is doing people good. Statistics however show that majority is not the case and it is not the people who benefit. There should be at least some limitations. There are some who may have the potentials to provide a sincere and quality people service but have a very slim chance as they have to compete with a clan whose members hold various prominent positions.

Maybe there is some good political dynasty, but this does not erase the reality that political dynasty has brought more graft and corruptions practices if not for those holding the government seats but from their best of kins in the private sectors. And with them holding almost all political seats in a province then who would dare to go against their wishes... This must be put to stop that is why this provision is enshrine in our constitution, and a law must be in place to assure that equal political opportunities be given to every one and put an end to the monopolies of few families or clans.

Political dynasties would not prosper come election time if people would stop voting for the candidates who are not actually worth the position they are running for. Many candidates are only using the famous name of the parents or spouse just to acquire votes even if they are not qualified for the job. However, this can not be considered in general since there are candidates who are related to the incumbent official who are worth the position they are aspiring for. What we the voters should do is to evaluate if we should vote for the relative or not. If we know that the only objective is to enrich himself or herself while in office, there are other candidates to vote for. Everything depends upon our own educated decisions to stop the dynasties ruling over the country.

I do agree with you that it depends on the voters. However, the people now in power have the machinery, influence and funds that could manipulate situations and people and, that is a herculean task for an aspiring "no name" but deserving candidate to face to. In our province then, I've known some hapless tenants who were warned by their landlords for possible eviction once a candidate dictated to them to be supported lost in their area or, government employees who may loss their job. I do hope it's not existing now but honestly I doubt.

Hate it but there's no movement to remove them anyway. If there is, it's gonna be a hard battle. The law has a loophole and everybody in the industry of politics exploits it. They are good sides to them too but they are rarely highlighted and thrown to the back burner.

I heard in the news days ago that it seems there is some actions in the senate and I do hope it will really prosper to give equal chance to deserving newcomers. However, according to the study and statistics of a known radio commentator almost 75% in the lower house are coming from political clans throughout the country and in the Senate too. Now, could we expect support from them in this issue when this is bound to curtail the positions and privileges their families now holds and enjoy?

people want to be part of politics because they want money.. all of us want money.. ryt? and they think running to be whatever position they want is the easiest.. they buy votes but after all they will just corrupt.. if their mission is to help then why just help initiative...its not initiative..its a call from poverty..

yes politics is a profitable business concealed by claims of desire to serve the people.
