Difference between PS3 and PS2

My brother ranged me today morning and requested to buy a Play station for him. I have a look around the various shopping sites and now i am little bit confused. I would be grateful if some one can guide me with the difference between PS2 and PS3.

Ps1 and ps2 games can be played in Ps3, Ps3 games have better graphics and a lot of Ps3 games have online coop features. Buy ps3 because you can play the new games, Then you can also play the older games. Ps1 and Ps2 games can be played with ps3. Ps2 is already an obsolete console. Anyway ps3 will end by next year so I can advise you to wait for ps4 instead.

Its rumored to be this coming 2013, so yeah a Ps4 can play games from ps2,ps3 and ps1 and all new games for ps4 so its going to have a more long term use.

The PS3 is basically just an blue ray player with game compatibilities and better graphic and the PS2 plays DVD's and CD's has limited online play. can use USB headset.
