I have heard that flavored water can be as good for you and healthy as plain non flavored water. I'm wondering if this is true and how true it is. I have heard that water with flavor in it can be just as beneficial as plain water. Tho most flavored water has some sugar calories and salt in it they say it can still be as good as pure fresh water. My husband and i tho found some flavored water at Wal -Mart that has no salt or calories or sugar. It's called water zero and it is carbonated water but without the sugar salt or calories. I have even heard that drinking things made with water such as iced tea fruit punch kool-aide and such is just as good as drinking plain water because it is made with water. Well this doesn't sound true. What do you think? Is flavored water as good for you as plain old water? Which do you prefer pain water or flavored? For me it depends on the mood i'm in because sometimes im so thirsty i just want a glass or bottle of plain old cold water. but if i want something with a bit of flavor and am tired of the plain water i do flavored.

I've tried many different kind of flavored water, as well as flavor enhancers for water, and my favorite thing so far has been a thing called MIO. Its got no sugar, no calories and it tastes really good.
The only way I can see iced-tea, fruit punch, juice, kool-aide, etc being good for you, is because yes it is made with water, and sometimes has good amount of vitamins in it, and we need vitamins. Also because we need to drink 8-10 glasses of water per day to keep our insides healthy, so I would imagine that drinking that stuff does the same, because it is fluid.
Its not all healthy, no, some of it has alot of sugar, but sugar is not ALWAYS bad, when taken in moderation.
Good luck to you !

Thank you chispa514 for that info. I didn't know that some kool-aides and iced tea could be good for you. I had heard they could be because they are made with water but i wasn't so sure. Didn't sound right to me. Thanks for that info and i will try and drink alot more water.

I know there are times when I think I should be adding some kind of flavoring to my plain old drinking water. Then I would read the nutrition label on the packet of flavoring and see how much sugar they put in it. I was shocked at how much sugar they put in it. So I just drink the plain old cold water much of the time when I am thirsty. But I do sometimes like to mix with some kind of concentrated fruit juice to make mix it up sometimes when I am bored with just drinking water.

Those flavored waters that have no sugar are just as bad as sugary drinks. The reason why they taste so good is that they contain Aspertine or some other form of "fake sugar" which is worse for you than sugar. You should read up on what these fake sugars can do to the body. It's not good.

I personally don't like plain water. I love Sobe water. They have wonderful flavors to choose from. If you pick out the white lables, they have zero calories and sugar. The colored labels range from 60 to 100 calories. My favorite flavor is Acai Raspberry...it hits the spot every time.

I love flavored water. If flavoring it gets people do drink water I'd say its a good thing however it is not quite as healthy as drinking plain water. There are three main drawbacks to flavored water. At least in the US tap water has a small amount of floride in it which is good for your teeth. Flavored and bottled water does not. Its not a huge amount obviously but it does help. The second issue with flavored water compared to plain drinking water is the artificial sweetener. There are all kinds of studies about the dangers of artificial sweetener suggesting possible health issues. While I have yet to see one that is not somewhat inconclusive by drinking straight tap water you're not even taking a chance. The the third thing I do not like about flavored water and the lesser of the three is the price. At least around here its pretty expensive compared to regular water.
I know a lot of people who make their own natural flavored water. It has little to no calories in it. Some will squeeze lemon juice into the water. Others will actually get different kinds of fruits and put it in a pitcher of water. They don't squeeze the oranges or anything they use it just sits in the water giving it a light delicious flavor.
Anyways I drink flavored water too sometimes. In my opinion nothing that I've mentioned is enough to make me want to stop drinking it.

Everyday i drink flavored water, i am not a fan of the plain water at al but will drink if there isnt anything else around. I add in a pink lmeonade to my water bottle everyday at work and its so much better and it only has 5 calories so not to bad. You can buy flavored water arleady but i find it cheaper to do this because a package of 10 lemonades is one dollar and then a 24 pack of water is three something and you can buy flavored water form propel lets say for probably around 3 dollars and something and thats a pack of 6 only so why not do it the cheaper way.

I think what makes the flavored water is that it has taste. This is palatable so the tendency is that you will drink more water than the regular tasteless water. You can make your own flavored water by adding a slice of lemon. This is also good to make our body alkaline. I don't know if there's alkaline water there too because I have seen water refilling stations here offering alkaline water.

I ve have heard the same thing here. I think it depends on the company and if they are natural or artificial flavors that are added to the water.
