In my family I have one such member. He suffered from Polio Mylities when he was 7 yrs old and lost all strength of his lower part of the body.He could not walk and still can not. However, he never stop fighting and Passed Chartered Accountancy and Cost Accountancy in one chance. He is established now. We dont have to help him, he sometime helps us. What do you make out from this. I really respect him.May God always be with him.

My father (who has passed on) was in a vehicular accident when he was young and suffered sever back injuries, but he never let that stop him from doing things he wanted to do. He was a genius when it came to computers, electronics and electrical work, plumbing, car repair, you name it. He reframed and reshingled our home pretty much by himself when I was a child.
My step-father was in a vehicular accident 20+ years ago as well, and suffered a spinal cord injury and as a result, uses a wheelchair. He just finished building a garage with the help of a friend. He could do most of the work except for the roof part-there was nowhere for him to secure himself that would have been safe.
I'm actually going to school to work with elderly or disabled people who still live on their own. (I'm taking nursing.) I've corresponded with many people who are polio survivors as well, and have just started volunteering at a hospital that serves people with post-polio syndrome. If your brother is ever interested in sharing his story, I'd love to hear it. I've learned a lot from people who have lived with polio even before studying it. I think it's always beneficial to learn from the people themselves what it's like on a daily basis and what they need to be comfortable and live a normal, productive life. It's also inspiring and refreshing to hear that people have overcome such obstacles in their lives.

It is really very kind and well thought out response from you. I have seen that persons having any disability tend to overcome and stand for themselves.Thank you very much that you agreed to share hs feelings but how would you listen to him and how would he contact you.He may do so if he wishes and you are willing. Thanks for your response.

My father is disabled due to injuries. It's painful and heartbreaking for me to see him in pain on a daily basis. His life has become a daily routine of 20+ pills.
