I wish to travel by train all the way from London to Eastern Europe. I spoke to a friend that come from Ukraine and she warned me accommodation will get booked up. I know that Euro Star sells tickets 120 days before departure and the European trains can be booked at the soonest 90 days before departure.
I wish to book the Euro Star tickets London to Brussels and get a wheelchair space for my disabled son on that. I wish to get sleeping bunks on the trains going from Amsterdam to Prague and from Prague to Krakow. Then I wonder about booking the train from Krakow into Ukraine. I am still not sure which trains to take on my homeward journey. I really need to book accommodation in Ukraine now. That is why before I can book our train tickets.
What do you think?

When are you plannimng to go, Maxine? For how long? I don“t much like to travel long distances by train as I will spend too much time traveling. Anyway, there are only some places where you can travel by train. In Chile we have a train that goes a little way only and we either travel by air or by bus normaly. The last time I went a long distance by train was in Spain, in a high speed train that took us from Madrid to Malaga in a short time.

It could be Easter, late May to early June or late July and August. Leo is now in Year One and it was hard enough to get him 10 days off school for our trip when he was in the Reception year group. We wish to go to Lviv, Yalta in the Crimea and Kiev. In addition we wish to pop down to Moldova. I also wish to visit Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Serbia. It would make sense to travel in Easter and then have a second trip later this year. Yes, I noticed lovely Chile doesn't have many train lines. I traveled there and away from there by long distance coach. The Andes Mountains were stunningly beautiful. We so very much enjoyed visiting you in your comfortable home.

I wonder how difficult it can be to book accomodation in an East Europe country (even private) at all. I think there will be plenty of it but in your case it might be more difficult if you need something special for your son. I would book the the train to the Ukraine first (as long in advance as possible) plus accomodation and if you have that the rest of the trip (over there and back home).
About accomodation zoover and booking.com might be of any help as well. In some cases the accomodation has it's own site and prices can be (way) lower. Like to hear about your trip one day.

Wow my friend that sounds like quite an exciting adventure you have planned, and I am quite envious, going by train sounds wonderful, I don't like flying myself so I would always choose the train over the plane, providing you have the extra time to spare and don't need to be anywhere quick. I am wondering whether the tickets for the train would be cheaper nearer the time, not sure if they do late deals? If you book in advance you probably pay extra, mind you it's been years since I booked tickets my ex used to do it all for me.

Since you have special accommodations you should book them now. I don't know if they give special treatment for your situation and it never hurts to ask. Quite possibly there is room for your son since most of the tickets are for passengers who do not need the assistance your son does. Good luck and happy traveling.
