Yes they did and it was on tuesday! I was not happy and I told them never to call me at work again! I told everyone in the kitchen if a woman calls and it is a bill collector, tell them I am not at work!
What makes me so pissed is I am making payments every month on the bill! I know they want their money but don't call a person at work! That is just plain rude! This ever happen to you?

I have only had that happen to me once and like you...I was just furious. They had my home phone and I am not one to avoid my responsibilities so there was no reason to call at my work. I work nights so am home during the day and it only made sense that they call me at home. Even if I worked days, I would expect them to leave me a message and I'd call them back. The only time they should call work is if they have tried every other means to get a hold of someone. And if you are making monthly payments then I don't see the need to bother you for any reason. I've had them pull my name & number out of the phone book in hopes of finding someone else with the same last name...so I get bothered for other peoples stuff and not just my own.

I really agree with your friend...I don't think they can sue you if you are making payments. It would not even be worth their time or money to try because all a court would do is order you to make affordable monthly payments. I would just ignore them.

I know the collection calls me at home! I will not pick up the phone unless I know who is calling! I have caller ID and if they leave a voice mail, I have no idea how the heck to retrieve it! I have an unlisted phone number, too! I have for along time! The other day I get a letter from a attorney saying I am going to be sured with in 30 days! I showed it to my best friend. He told me as long as I am paying monthly payments I should not worry about! I hope not! I owe just over a $1,000.00 and it makes no sense why I would be sued over that!

They can sue if they haven't agreed to the amount that blue65packer is paying every month. They don't care about attorneys' fees and court costs because they'll just ask the judge to award that to them on top of the amount of the debt in the judgment. Just ignoring them is a bad idea.

Sometimes you have to be careful with this because scammers do this. My mom told me how it almost happened to my aunt or something. They called her at work and told her some b.s. story and they wanted all her information etc. or else they'd come to her work and arrest her.
The scammers scare people into giving out their bank numbers or credit card information and then money gets stolen and all sorts of bad things.
I don't think a bill collector has any reason to call you at work, especially if you're making payments. Seems to me like it's a scam or something.

From what I know it is legal to call a person at work in Wisconsin! It sucks and I hope it won't happen again! It is bad enough it happen but now it has gootan worse! The other day I get letter in the mail saying I am being sued for the remaining money I owe! I was not happy and showed the letter to my friend MArk. He looked at the letter and told me this just a scare tactic. I should not worry about it and if they contact me again I will tel Mark. He said he will deal with these people for me! I hope that doesn't happen!

It has happened to me at work and I wasn't happy at all. I learned that lesson a long time ago, it seems after they do it once, they keep doing it. Just don't give out your work number if you don't have to.
I have also got phone calls for other people and tell the caller to put this number on their do not call list. I am not the account holder and don't owe the company anything, not even an answer for someone else.
Makes me angry that while you are trying to earn money to pay someone. they are calling you there and possibly causing you to lose your job with their calls. Then they end up without a payment at all.

I told my co-employees if someone calls me and it is a bill collector, don't say I am at work!
I am not even angrier at the collection agency! Today in the mail I get a letter saying a law firm is coming after me to get their money! I showed it to my friend Mark. He told me not to worry, this is problem just a ploy to get me to pay up! I can't and if they continue to make threats my boss,Mark will stand by me and get this cleared up! I hope this doesn't happen but if it does I get through it.

hi blue65packer I think if I am not mistaken that its really illegal to
harass you at work with a bill collector. I know t at they cannot come
to your door and threaten you with any sort of harm as I called the
police on this one as I did pay each month but we also had an
issue w ith the quality of meat they sold us, and the police
told me they would send an officer at once as its illegal for the man or woman
to harass you at home or at work.call the police next time.

It is illegel and I hope it doesn't happen again! A few days ago I get a letter in the mail telling me I will be sued in 30 days for the remaining money I owe! I was pissed and showed it to my friend Mark. He says they are just treating me to pay up. He said as long as I make monthly payments I should have no problems! If I do I will tell Mark and he will help me out. So we will see what happens!

But just one call isn't considered harassment unless the collector's already been told that the person isn't allowed to take calls at work.

It's never happened to me, but I had a friend who had a collector that kept calling her at work. My uncle works in collections and his advice to her was to tell them that she's not allowed to get calls at work. Once they're told that, they have to stop calling you at work. It doesn't have to be put in writing. You can just tell them on the phone if they call again.

I was pissed and showed it to my friend Mark. He said they are just trying to scare me and not to worry! If the attorney tries to get hold of me again,Mark will help me out! This is getting so stupid! I can't wait for this mess to be over with!

Um... I think you have a serious problem that needs to be dealt with.
Collection agencies legally can't threaten to sue you if they aren't going to do it. When that happens, you're going to end up paying their court costs and attorney fees on top of whatever else you owe them.
I think you need to call the collection agency and work something out with them before the situation gets worse. You're making monthly payments but they can still sue you if they're lower than the amount you originally agreed to pay and they didn't agree to the amount you're paying now.
Please don't listen to Mark's advice. It's just going to make things worse for you.

they have called my hubby at work too and i agree with you that is highly annoying because they have no right to. my hubby also got angry with them and told them that if they want money, they had better not be bothering him at work because they were keeping him from making money!

Since the phone call I get a letter in the mail telling me I am going to be sued for the remaining money I owe! I showed my letter to my friend mark. He said not to let it worry me! They are just scaring me to pay up. As long as I make my monthly payments I should be ok. If the attorney gets hold of me,I'll tell Mark and he will help me out. I hope this doesn't happen!

I don't know about Wisconsin but here in Minnesota that is illegal...they can't call you at work. And if you ask them to stop and they don't....well you can press charges. I haven't had it happen to me...but others at work have. Check and see if it is illegal.

i would call the bill collector and tell him he was rude to have done a thing like that. calling you at work could spoil your day, but think of what embarrassment he can create you if he keeps looking for you for the bills eventually? bill collectors like bankers coming to collect their bills could be ruder blue65packers; i know myself.
