Most of us, I am sure, are afraid of getting old. Instead of enjoying and celebrating life, we are wrapped in fear of the wrinkles, brittle bones, and weakness that comes along with age. But if you will think about it, we actually should be thankful of every age that are added in our lives. Besides, being old has perks, you will be given privileges when riding public transportation, discounts in drugstores, groceries and restaurants, and also priority lanes. How about you? What do you look forward to the most about growing old?

Frankly, there's absolutely nothing to look forward too, growing older. More and more people you know pass away. Memories become more and more painful where you once could smile having them. Discounts are nice but for that you will be called 'granny' by people you don't even know. That's the extra price you HAVE to pay. I don't think getting older is really a bliss.

I don't think there is much good with getting old either Franseman. The discounts are nice, but that's about it. Also i never want to be called granny. So i agree with you getting older isn't a bliss but think of the things you could see happening and be invented as you got older. Tho physically getting older is not a bliss.

Nah, maybe it sounded a bit negative. And believe me, i'm a 100% optimist. It's just that I can't enjoy things I used to anymore. Like dancing, running with the dogs. I mean, of course I still can but it's different now. In the rainy season I fall easily on slippery parts. That never happened when I was younger. Of course I still enjoy life as much as I can. But it gets harder.

All people will grow old. We have to accept that soon we will have wrinkes, our beauties will fade, and we will become weak in time. Acceptance is needed in regards to this. Growing old also speaks about wisdom. Thanks for this discussion.

Growing older does not always mean getting wiser. I know people of 50+ who are not wise at all and I know teenagers who have a tremendous wisdom.

I like to retire while I am young. I like to travel the world with my husband. I am looking forward of doing all the things that i missed when i was busy earning money when I was young. Even though I know there are foods that will be bad for my health I like to eat it still as a reward of a job well done. I do not want as much as possible to be the burden of my future children. I want to makes advises for them, to help them in their future family, to be the best grand parents and I want to enjoy life with my husband. That is the ideal life I want to have. I want to use all of my earnings as the payment of my hard work for my future life with my husband.

while its true there may be some discounts for seniors, its not much of a trade off if one is on a limited, fixed pension. The reduced cost would be worth more if it meant a little extra spending money in your pocket!

To be honest, I am also a bit afraid to getting old, as the time fly by without me notice it. To the end of 2012, and soon to be 2013, I will getting old day by day. But that is the natural human process, we have to accept it as a truth. Anyway, I just expect to have my own career, and I can do something great before the end of time. That is my ultimate goal for my life.

I never thought of looking forward to growing old and i hate growing older. I use face cream wrinkle eye cream want to color my hair when it gets too gray things like that, but i still enjoy life and try to live everyday to the fullest. Now that i think about it tho what i like about getting older is the new things you get to see. Like if i get too be 100 years old think of all the new technology i will get to see. Getting older means i get to see the world more and do more with my life that's what's good about getting older to me . Tho i do like the discounts you get when shopping and eating out at restaurants. I shouldn't think so much about how i will look when i'm old, but i don't want to do what they say grow old gracefully. i look like i was 17 or 18 when i was 21 Now i'm 40 and i look like i'm 30 i want to keep my youthful look.

I am just hoping that I can invest and I still have my earnings during that time so I can provide my own care giver. I don't want to ask help from my future kid so that he can take care of me, because my concern there could be he can already live on his own.

I don't worry about wrinkles or gray hair. My only concern is maintaining my home and having enough money to survice. I already have problems walking and standing due to a condition I have, so I have to figure out how I can geet along if anything happens to my hubby. I won't burden my son, so I have to find a way to do it myself.

haha, i am with you friend, not only that also health issues and need to take a lot of care about the food we take. See we don't even remember how our 20 years of life gets overs as we are very busy with studies and all ,no fear of life, but when we start working and settle then some other tensions, but we realize what is life by then, and also realize we will get old and all sort of problems. I want a good bank balance by the time i grow old and want to sit at home with out any tensions by doing some online works like mylot. This is what i thought till now.But we never know ,what we have in our platter tomorrow.

I am not bothered and worried about growing old for I am enjoying every moments of my life. Although sometimes, I am afraid also because the days come so fast and time is really precious so I see to it now that I still young i should do all the necessary things to do and not to complicate life more. Instead, just enjoy and have some fun while i am still alive.
