So the other week I was sitting down to watch something on TV called 'Billy the Exterminator' on A & E. Mom was there too, as she always is at home, & she didn't seem interested in the show much at all so she walked away etc. Now today she comes into the kitchen where I am, excited kind of and tells me she wants me to tape Billy The Exterminator show on the 10th for her and my brother. Now suddenly she is interested in it. I mean, what the heck. Is it just me she doesn't like watching TV shows or what I'm watching or what. I don't understand this at all. Because my brother wants to watch it she likes it but if I'm watching it she isn't interested. Bizarre. Do you ever experience wierd things like this with family members? Who and what are they?

I was thinking...why don't you get your own small telly for your room. Then you can watch what you want and have peace and quiet at the same time.

See that is the thing, I'm not the owner of the house and she thinks by getting another TV it will run her bill up sky high or something. I would buy the TV myself at least and the bill wouldn't be that high cause I wouldn't be watching it as much as they do, it's just a wierd situation with a few bi-polar/not so bright types that are family members who I have to live with right now out of necessity. I am looking for shows on Hulu at times but it's not the same. I would be happy enough to have one TV if they would just want to share it with the rest of the family and not take it over, mom said that is what her dad did when they were growing up and I believe that is where she gets it and has passed it onto my brother. Funny thing is she thinks she is more like her mom which is not even close to the truth except they both married a drunk (dad has been sober since Dec 1988 though).

From the tone of it, it seems like you are jealous that your mom is agreeing with your brother. Given the scenario that you have given, it looks like that as well. As for weird things, as with other family, there are favourite among the siblings. As long as it does not hurt the family ties, then might as well leave it as it is.

It is not jealousy. No other comment.
