In my opinion, cellphone should be made simple. I mean the functions of cellphone should be simple. Just chatting with people and sending/receiving messages is enough. If the cellphone has too much functions, we will be so dependent to it!

For some of us like me, the traditional features of the cell phone is simply enough, just to text and make a call. However, the tech geeks want more than that since they want all the features provided by the latest gadgets like being online without carrying a heavy laptop. At some point, it can be an advantage since you can receive important emails and messages even on the go. Once they get bored, they can start playing games or listening to music they have downloaded. It really looks pretty cool to have the latest gadgets that is why there is always a ready market for the latest cell phones.

Sorry friend, I am having a different opinion to what you said. I am of the opinion that a cell/mobile phone should have almost all features that will become useful to a person. If a mobile phone includes only some simple basic functions it will be difficult for us to carry other gadgets with us. As a simple experiment if we want to look for some data in the Internet we have to carry a laptop with us. But ifInternet facilities are included in a phone all we need to carry is that phone only. This will make us more comfortable while travelling and all. Therefore in my opinion the phones should have preloaded or can load feature according to our need.

What you said is true. Maybe different people have different life style, I just want everything to be simple. For me, smartphones make me feel I am an accessory of machines. So I am against the truth that machines are getting smarter and smarter. Thank you for your opinion. :)

My phone is a smartphone, and it has a lot of functions to it. I used to have simple phones, but to me they are boring, as you can't do much with them, and I like to go on the internet with mine, especially when I am out and about, so having all the unctions my phone has, suits me fine. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and it suits my purpose, and I am glad that I bought it. I know not everyone likes phones with lots of unctions, and that is okay too, as all the functions aren't for everyone. Take care, and happy myloting.

Many people around me tend to use smartphones. Smartphone has many functions that the traditional phone can not do. They make our life so convenient. The key is that "find a phone that really suits you".

I do think that it's not the cellphone that makes people dependent, but dependent and lazy people looking for something that would do everything for them. But I like my cell phone simple and easy to use. It should have some extras, though, such as proper Internet, a camera, a radio, some games and an audio-recordinmg device, but I think all those fancy apps are not needed.

A simple cellphone is a phone with some basic functions, such as an recording device, cameras, etc. Some apps in smart phones are useful indeed, they help people with many aspects. But I don't want to be so dependent to phones.

Hi friend, welcome to mylot. Such kind of cell phones also available in market, if you are not interested with high tech phones, you can buy this kind of phones. Now most of the youngsters are depending up on the smart phones, they don't support this kind of simple phones. There is nothing wrong in cell phone to have high tech features. It is very handy and we can use it for multipurpose

I'm not usually into electronics and in the past I've gotten bored of new cell phones within a week but I love my smartphone. I save money by not having to pay for a gps, ipod, and I have something to do when I'm bored. Had smartphones not existed I'd still have all of these devices but it would just be more expensive and annoying carrying them all around. I'm not dependent on these features but it does make my life much easier and I don't see any harm in that.

You are quite right. It all depends. I just can't control myself. _

You are right. That makes it a lot easier to use. I prefer a simple cellphone over iPad or any other smartphones. A simple one with QWERTY keypad is the best option for me. I don't prefer touch, as I feel it's a strain to fingers.

:D I don't prefer touch cellphones too. Touch mobile phone can be not so accurate.

I know many MANY people who are totally dependent/hooked on their phone -- in fact it's become an extension of their bodies! I have a basic featured phone and it serves me for what I need right now, but smartphones and the technology are the future and the future is pretty much now. Scan codes, etc. Smartphones are more than just phones (does anybody actually call anyone anymore?), they are mini-computers and you have to admit, there is a lot you can do in the palm of your hand, which cuts down on all the extraneous clutter.

Yeah cellphones could be as simple as before , but people are different from each others that has different needs as well. There are still some cellphones out there that is simple that offers just the basic call and text/sms and there are also cellphones that offers different features that other people are looking for. I guess cellphones in the market now is for different kinds of people, people just the one who will choose the cellphones that will suit for them and for their needs. In the end, people still have the last say and decision in what cellphone to buy and use.

I agree with you. Cellphone should be kept simple, sending text message and be able to initiate calls would be enough. However, most people find it very convenient to have a gadget that act as a mobile phone, a PSP as well as a laptop.

Yes, phone with too many functions can be very tough for people to use, especially for old people. Nowadays, PSP and laptop are smaller, and it is very convenient to take with them.

I know some people who are so obsessed with their phones that they even have to take it with them to the crapper! I survived having the basic features of messaging and calling on my cellphone. Lately only did I decide to enable my email on my phone because of work and other important business -related stuff, but that's it. So I have email, messaging, and calling on my phone. I even deleted some of the apps that are in my phone which I would never use like some games.

I also like my phone simple just basic call and text messaging is enough for me. But basic phone like this are now rare and hard to find. Mostly they are old model. New cell phones today have so many features which I find are basically useless for my daily use. Have a nice day. Ciao!
