The family get together on this special occasion. Setting bonfire at the backyard, catching up stories with friends and help in preparing food for Christmas eve. Prior to this celebration, the family gathered used clothing or any items that can be reusable. Then we donate to a non-profit organization as donation to a less fortunate people. How about you?

Muslims do not usually celebrate Christmas in the formal way. If there are toddlers in the family my daughter in New Jersey has the whole Christmas present thing down. She buys and make gifts and buys clothes for family and friends. She is married to Dirty Harry in NJ and as a Muslim I have fun having Harry's friends and family coming to the house. We have great food, we have fun with all the kids and my sister who lives in Toronto might also come. I live in Cape Town and will probably miss a trip to the US this year.

I agree that Muslims don't celebrate this, but they knew it was important for non-Muslims country. One of my neighbour used to show all her Santa Clause collections. Tremendously remarkable installed around her lovely house. Some people take time to take picture, since it was amazing to have this kind of passion. I've been to a Muslim country and they have also decorations like western style.

Though our family has been through more than our fair share of hardships in the past couple of years, I also realize that there are a lot of blessings that we have. So we always make a point of passing on those things that we no longer need to families that don't have as many blessings as we have. This is typically something that we will do right before Thanksgiving.
Then as the holiday draws nearer, we will spend time making cookies and just spending a lot of time together.

Whenever I hear Christmas songs, it really a sign of having a MERRY MERRY Christmas. The very colorful decorations hanging around, showcasing their collections of Christmas trees, lanterns, and so forth. I hope I can also make cookies like you. Thanks

I'm not really going to be doing much for Christmas. I will be exchanging gifts with my immediate family and I am hoping to go to the temple downtown, which always has a huge light display on their grounds. I wanted to donate some things to give to the shelter, but I don't really have any clothing that I want to give up. I'm the type to wear clothes until they are unwearable. I was thinking of maybe buying some inexpensive clothing and definitely some food to give though.

How about us? Well how I wish we could still celebrate Christimas, but I think we have lots of family problem and issue around here. We also surviving for financial because... well... my dad did something bad so I think, its difficult for us to celebrate Christmas anymore. I am not so sure about it.

I'll have fun on this day.
I've always liked Christmas Eve because it's a wonderful night full of dreams and desires whatnot.
I love this Christmas decoration maybe because I'm born a few days before Christmas.
nice discussion!

That is a wonderful tradition for your family to do. My family tends to donate food and other items to local ministries for the poor and through our church.

Hi Shavkat: I haven't planned yet but giving some of the things we have to a foundation who works with kids or elder people that have been left sounds like a good idea to share love in a special religious moment also being with the ones we love sharing these precious moments is important for me.

I admire those families you mentioned I dreamed of that.I wish i can apply that in my family.. actually I been doing my best to do that in my daughter. coz i am a single mother.I don't have christmas because I am an INC. but for me everytime ihave extra money I with daughter and my cousin go out together in mall and eat there and watch movies. I have a very complicated family so we don't have such celebration.. but only for little ones with me..
