My friend showed me a great recipe for garlic bread in the oven and I prepared some earlier tonight. I thought it would also be great to eat it in the morning so I saved 2 piecies for my breakfast. The bread has sauce on top with garlic that I made myself so it came out a bit strong. Now I am thinking that it's not a very good idea to eat it in the morning because I have this meeting with a new client at 10 and it kind of important. It is possible that she might smell the garlic although I will brush my teeth. My mother said that it won't smell but maybe I shoud avoid it! Are you careful with garlic in your breakfast and have you ever be annoyed if someone at work had a strong breakfast before coming to the workplace?

I use garlic powder in everything!
I've read some where that garlic is good for you! I won't worry too much about it, because some people have body odor!

The smell is strong, especially in the morning so yes, I am hesitant when I want to go out after eating garlic. I like garlic though, so I add some at dinner when I am planning to watch some TV and go to sleep afterwards! This way I don't miss eating garlic!

I use fresh parsley in my hands after I mince garlic and it helps a lot.

I don{t usually have anything with garlic for breakfast, but I don{t avoid garlic at any time. If there is a homemade mayo with garlic around, I could put it on my bread without thinking about it.

Oh I love to eat any food with garlic on it. Sometimes I ate fried rice with garlic on it for breakfast. Of course I brush my teeth carefully so that my breath will be fresh.

If there are some left over rice and we will be having some fried rice for breakfast, we always use garlic! We also season our scrambled eggs with a bit of garlic powder to enhance the flavor. Of courses we make sure that we brush our teeth really well after eating and before we even step out of the house.

I've never heard of egg with garlic powder and I haven't tasted it! How do you make them, do you add the garlic on top after cooking the eggs? We use a lot of garlic in sauces and sometimes in baked or boiled food, but it's always fresh galic. I'll look for the powder in the store. Thanks for your comment!

Maybe your client ate garlic as well since it is very healthy hahahahaha.
But serious: I heard that chewing raw parsley after you ate garlic will neutralize the odor. It's worth trying!

I remember my ex loved garlic, they would put it in everything! Now I am no cook and so they did all the cooking and boy did they smell, it was quite embarrassing actually and I insisted they cleaned their teeth when I want to kiss them. Now I don't eat garlic full stop, I like onions though and they have a similar affect so I always make sure I am sucking a mint to take away the smell, it's funny you can never smell it on yourself, only on others.

It's true, people the eat it have no idea that they smell! My friend had the same effect with onions once, we went for lunch and we ordered greek salad with fresh onions and she ate some, but I didn't because I only eat them in food and not fresh. On our way home, my friend got thirsty and I gave her my bottle of water to drink. When I tried to drink from the same bottle later, I could smell the onion on the bottle top and I didn't touch it of course! We were laughing for days after that!

I won't eat garlic even though i know it is very good for our health. If i eat it, i just swallow it as if it is a pill because i don't like garlic smell. Sometime i do swallow garlic pieces at home when i am alone, not in a restaurant when i eat out.

Do you cut it in small piecies and then swallow it? I am not sure if you can digest it after eating a whole garlic! On the other hand it's too spicy to chew it so the best way would be to put little piecies in food until you get used to it!
Thanks for your response!

Im not much of a garlic eater here. I use garlic salt sometimes on meats. But I really dont use much fresh garlic. Unless a recipe really calls for it. So I do avoid garlic at breakfast. have a great week there.

Thanks :)
Garlic in dust for gives a great taste but you don't get the after eating effects! I can't eat it fresh either because it's very spicy, but I put fresh garlic in the food when I cook. The smell calms down a bit but it's still there.
The garlic bread that I prepared was only baked for a few minutes in the oven so the garlic taste was still very strong! Have a great day!

I like putting garlic, onion and pepper in my recipes. I don't mind eating garlic during breakfast. In fact, I want my fried with a lot of garlic in it. Garlic is also known for its medicinal properties so eating more garlic is beneficial to our body that is I don't shun away from it.

Pepper is also very beneficial, it contains a lot of vitamine C. I add all the above ingredients in cooking but I can't eat neither fresh! I don't know why but the taste is either too strong or spicy, or I can't stand it! But when they are cooked they give a wonderful taste in the food! Can you eat garlic, onion and pepper fresh in the salad for example or you also prefer them cooked?

I've realised that many members here eat fried rice or egg with garlic for breakfast. I have never tried this recipe because we always have something lighter in the morning like milk, cake, juice or toasted bread for example. It's nice to hear that people eat a lot of garlic because it's very important for our health!
Thanks, have a great day too!

I use garlic in most of my cooking but I don't smell like garlic. I think perhaps you shouldn't put too much garlic on your bread if you fear your breath might smell and if you feel that it would irritate others then just chew on some mint gum or something similar.

It doesn't smell strong if it's cooked, but I had just baked my garlic bread in the oven for a few minutes so the garlic was still very intense! I usually eat it at night and then go to sleep so noone has to smell my "garlic breath"! But I was really tempted to eat the garlic bread for breakfast because it's so tasty!

No, I do not avoid garlic at breakfast. We have this breakfast meal in our country, a fish or meat with egg and rice topped with fried garlic. It is delicious. I think most people recommend a heavy meal at breakfast, that is why they call it "king of the meal" so that people can have energy in work the whole day.

I know that eggs give a lot of energy, that's true! I eat a lighte breakfast usually, with fruits, bread and butter with honey on top, cake etc. This time, the garlic bread was a left over from the previous night.
However, I eat huge breakfasts when I stay in hotels, I usually take the eggs and the bacon and everything else that I might like and it really gives me a lot of energy for the rest of the day!

I absolutely love food that contains lots of garlic. If there was something I wanted to eat for breakfast that contained garlic I wouldn't hesitate to eat it. Like you said just brush your teeth before you leave. Also if your not at home you can always carry gum or mints.

I also brush my tongue after eating garlic and the smell fades faster! It depends on the food that contains garlic, we make a special sauce in my country with fresh garlic, cucumber and yogurt (it's called tzatziki). This is strong in the taste and you can't avoid the smell even if you brush your teeth! But in other food it's fine with brushing and a gum as you said!

I like using a little garlic at food, it gives a nice taste! But I don't like it if it's too strong because of the garlic smell afterwards, especially if I am going out of the house. That's why I am thinking that it's not a good idea to eat it for breakfast!
By the way italian food is delicious! Have a nice day!!
