How strange! Empty categories at Mylot.

I recently decided to add several new interests and started with the music choices. I scrolled through page after page selecting the ones that appealed to me, knowing that many would have very few discussions because members would have created an interest category for a single discussion that they wished to post. However, when I looked at Tchaikovsky there were no discussions at all listed, which also applied to several other interests that I checked. I can understand nobody posting a discussion for a given category, but why create one id you have nothing to post?

Sometimes we do create interest with an interest of posting some interesting discussions. But we do not concentrate and post. it happened in my case with one or two interests also. a few are already there and are not created by any new member.

I would have expected the category to be created when you were posting a discussion. It never occurred to me that anyone would create a category in preparation for future postings, although I can see how this could happen. As for Tchaikovsky, this is such a specialist category that I would expect a person to make use of it because they would have a discussion in mind before creating it.

I have read the above response that, not all interest/category are created by user or mylot member. Therefore- if any category left empty- it only means that no member is interested on it. Or maybe, it's still not discovered by any members- not at least by you.

I would have assumed that if the category had been a more general one, such as composers or classical music. It just seemed a little unlikely to me that Mylot would create categories for indivual composers at the launch of the site.

Hello Hatley, as I commented to ravisivan above it did not seem likely to me that it would be a Mylot generated category because of it being such a specific field of interest. Nevertheless it now seems as though it most likely is. As for Mozart, I assume that if Tchaikovsky qualifies for a category then Mozart should do as well. I did not notice during my browsing through the list because Mozart does not appeal to me.
