This way of thinking is very common to young people or even mature ones.Is this really the fact? I come up with this discussion because my father tried to skip his meals yesterday to reach his desired body weight. I know for sure that this is not right so I made some research and wanna share the fact that I learned yesterday though I know for certain that a lot of you knows about this..:) The fact is this: When you skip meals your body fights back by slowing down your metabolism ( the rate at which you burn calories. You will lose weight more efficiently if you eat several small meals a day rather than one or two large one". Yes finally I was able to convince my father about this. Do you wanna share more facts about this?

Your body requires a certain intake of energy giving foods to maintain your body weight at a particular level of activity...reducing from this amount will result in weight loss. As you say, just cutting out meals won't be a fast fix..you nead a balanced intake of food, and missing meals could mean you might overcompensate later..reducing your intake, while spreading meals out and increasing your exercise should have the desired effect..

You are right in that the body will react and adapt. That is why those on diet need to have cheat days. So to skip meals occasionally may help lose some weight. Smaller meals between is a much better way to go.

I am slim already and so have no problem to shed some extra weight.Instead,I have to put on some weight. You may be surprised to know that I eat only once a day- at 9.30 pm at night. Before that I don't take even a slice of bread or a biscuit.Only a cup of tea enables me to keep working till noon when I take another cup of tea.I take my third cup of tea in the evening and then take my dinner at night.I fortunately don't have any problem and I can work for hours without being tired. The information you have shred with us here are certainly extremely useful.

Yes, skipping meals can make you lose some extra pounds. However, this is not an advisable diet plan to practice on a day-to-day basis. Skipping meals can trigger to a lot of bad factors: 1. Although you are slimming, It will eventually give your metabolism a practice of "loss of apetite" 2. Your body thinks its in starvation mode and slows down your metabolism to compensate. During this “fasting,” carbohydrates, proteins and fats are used for energy. 3.As you progress during the day the chances of binging and overeating are high.

You are very much welcome... Yes, it's a bad diet routine. If you really want to take part in getting in the right shape, get rid off some body weight. You can have a perfect diet plan, best to consider is getting a consultation with a dietician and or go to the gym. :D

Yes you are absolutely correct. When you skip meal, it slows down metabolism, and your body feels hungry. In the state of hungry, your body will store fat as future resource for energy. This is automatic. That means you will not loose the fat! Also you will loose your muscle, because muscle provide energy. Even when you are not doing exercise, your body will need energy to be alive, for all the organs to function. If the body takes away from muscle to get energy, and store the fat, this is the worst! Muscle burns the fat, so you definitely do not want to loose muscle, instead you want to build muscle. Muscle becomes your fat killing machine 24 hours. So don't skip meals, but eat small portion more frequently. Still watch the portion. Breakfast is key! Lunch is also important, but not too much on dinner. Have a snack in between breakfast and lunch, lunch and dinner. Don't eat dinner past 7 pm. Drink a lot of water. Tea is also good. Good luck!

Thanks for providing me this information wfhchristener. I will always put in mind that eating dinner past 7 pm is a "no-no". Tea is good since it helps burn belly fat.

I don't think it can help you to lose the weight by skipping the meals. On the contrary, you will gain more weights. Since you feel hungry and therefore you can't help eating the snacks or something like that to feel better. And the result is you will gain more weights. The normal and balanced diet is helpful. Skipping the meals is not suggested.

I had just heard this recently too. But I think that most people dont' distinguish between eating several small meals from snacking all day! It can be hard...I mean just think...your mind says you can eat...all day!!! What it isn't telling you is what you should eat and why! My problem is once I start.. I tend to get really hungry all day long...but if I dont' start till late morning...I do okay about eating only 2 meals and very light on the snacking. Also if I keep busy...and out of the kitchen helps alot!

Lit, i ever tried to skip meal to lose weight but not succeed. Because i have gastric problem and it make it worse. So, i prefer to lose weight by having to eat several small meals in a day. At least, i don't have to eat two to three times large meals, which makes me unable to lose weight. I am happy to see i managed to lose some weight by eating a few small meals. Indeed, eating several small meals works wonder on our body.

If your father wants to lose weight, it's best to control how much he eats and only eat when he's really hungry. At the first pang of hunger, he should not quickly find something to eat but rather drink a glass of water. Sometimes that would reduce the hunger but when the hunger pang comes again, he should eat food that is rich in fiber like fruits or leafy vegetables. This type of food will be digested slower and therefore would prolong the feeling of fullness.

That is not a good idea of loosing weight. Actually you are starving yourself if you do this one. Furthermore, according to reasearch, this will increase of possibility of gaining weight faster in you resume on eating the normal way. Like what you said, it is better to eat in small amount than skipping meals.

Hi friend, you are right, we don't lose our weight by skipping meals, some times we will gain more weight with this kind of unwanted activities, by skipping meals we allow air to fill the place of food, due to the extra air we will get belly, so skipping meals never help you to reduce your weight. Take proper diet and do proper exercise to keep your weight in a good maner

Hello Well, skipping meal and other crash dieting can help us to reduce the weight first, but if we think long they are surely not proper and healthy.. So better do some regular exercising for reducing our extra weight. Yes we can do some dieting but its not meaning we should skip our meals. By this way we will get even more unhealthy. We should follow proper diet by avoiding junk food and other food who give us more fat.
