What is it about Christmas that make most of us over spend ?? I dindt have much plan but as soon as I start planning my list is growing . That happen to you also? you notice a lot more things you want the more you think about it .
I know I am naturally a heavy spender , whenever I start spending but I budget my money and I know I can spend what I take out . Its important to stick to your budget and make it early .
I have always heard some people saying , people spend so much for Christmas and have no money for the new year . I dont buy on credit so that is a plus , I spend only what I have and can afford to .

I know that every year we all have that "I shouldn't have bought that" "that was a waste of money" type guilt. It's partially the fault of the stores as they always have things out that look so appealing and at such a good price too, even if it isn't a good price. It seems that they are bringing Christmas related stuff out sooner and sooner each year as well.
This year I think I am going to use a cashback site to help me with atleast getting back some of what I spent. In this way I won't feel as guilty and will be happy to have the money coming back to me, atleast some of it.
I do want to splurge, but not too much. I may should just get cash out of my account and spend it that way.

Every where you walk , you see a store with things you want . They sure are bringing out the Christmas stuff sooner . Cashback sites, that sound like a good plan , not available to me but I would do it if I could .
I want to go all out also , and hopefully do regret it next year lol ...

It's disappointing that sites that are available to US citizens are not for other's of other countries. I've ran across people of other nations more interested in earning online then I have of US citizens. The most US citizens I've found on this site here.
One thing I do like is the after Christmas mark downs though I don't tend to partake in them so much.

It is disappointed , even some good online earning ones are not available. True , a lot more nation are interested in earning online than most American but its nice that we are all connected and accepted here at mylot .
I dont normally take part in after Christmas mark down either , because Christmas is finish , I find it hard to buy anything after spending so much already .
Last respond sentence should have been "hopefully do not"

I think that a lot of the excessive spending is indirectly due to the fact that Christmas is in the winter. I know that this may sound a little odd at first, but winter is a miserable season in many coutries, including mine. With short periods of daylight, cold weather and the chance of plenty of rain and snow we look forward to anything to improve the situation.
Christmas is an opportunity to brighten up the winter with festive decorations, presents, good food and many other aspects of the celebration. This offers a great escape from the depressing winter mood, so we often get carried away and overdo just about everything.

The Christmas Season would often let us feel so happy to give to a lot of people that we love that we could lost track of how much we have already spent. We just wanna make sure that each friend or family member will receive something from us.

Well, it happens in my country that is Italy, that the month of December, workers and retirees, can breathe a sigh of provides relief for their budget, as to them shall be paid in the 13th monthly salary (December in a few words to these people take exactly twice their normal salary).
So this falls well off during Christmas!
Lately, however, such "thirteenth" are a little thinner due to the economic crisis that is forcing people to make great sacrifices to make ends meet during the year.
However, Christmas shopping, always has its charm, both for the festive atmosphere, the glittering display, gifts, and so on!
Wrong, however, to go over budget, spend what you can, do not overdo it. And, by all means use the criterion!

Getting that extra bonus is always something extra to smile about . I understand , some workers will not get bonus maybe some extra hours to make extra money but no bonus .
Yes the glitters , budget is important because I will go spending like there is no tomorrow when I start . I also bring a long someone that always remind me of how much I spend already .

This is definitely true because we all want to have not just an ordinary occasion but the most fabulous one as much as we can. No matter how hard we deny-how happy or how memorable your Christmas is, depends on how fat your wallet is or how rich you are to splurge for Christmas shopping.
We tend to overspend for Christmas because we are heavily commercialized. I see we can still celebrate Christmas with few or minimal decorations, simple gifts to friends and family and even just a few special dishes to prepare. It's less stressful and might also save you a lot of money for future use.

Every year we want it to be the Christmas to remember . I agree, with a fat wallet comes a more jolly Christmas , we want to shop until we drop .
Yes lets blame the commercials
. Yes we can celebrate Christmas with fewer material things and still have a good time . Its hard to not give in to the stores , but we can if we try and as you say we will definitely save some money .

Hi silverfox!
Since this season happens only once in a year, I see to it that my relatives and friends would be given a gift/s. I would also have to cook something for the occasion. This is one of the time when I can spend a lot of time with my family because my forced leaves were not consumed during the year so I would take advantage of this time because I could no longer used those leave credits on the following year.
But this year, until now I can not start yet with my Christmas shopping because I still have to wait for my 13th month pay. Hopefully, I could have it by Friday.
Merry Christmas!

Hi
Get what you saying , same here , I dont spend much time with my family during the year , sometimes hardly a phone call because we are so rap up with our own life . Chrsitmas is the time when most of us are free , so it important to spend time with your love ones because during the year wont be so kind .
You still have a lot of time to do Christmas shopping .

I do remember years ago when I would use to overspend on Christmas shopping like there's no tomorrow.
I surely regret that. I agree with you, it's best to stick to your budget and make the shopping early.

Indeed, Christmas is the most expensive holidays of all time.
I don't even spend too much for myself on my birthday.
I made up my list too and it's quite long. After estimating the amount of gifts I will buy and come up to be very expensive, I cut down some of them. Instead of buying a bag for my Aunt, I will cut it down to purse.

I think some things become even more expensive during the Christmas . You are making some wise decision buy cutting down your list .
