I LOVE pomegranates! And at my local grocery, they were on sale so I got a few :) One thing I don't love, though, is the mess of eating them. How do you crack open a pomegranate to get to those delicious seeds?

I like to simply give a minor cut not into the seeds and peel the pomegranate. I sprinkle the seeds with a tiny bit of salt and enjoy!

Hmm...I'll have to try it with salt. I did try peeling and there was less mess! Thanks for the tip!

This is the way to do it...cut them into quarters, put them underwater and peel the tough skins off. You will find that the little bits of 'skin' which keep the seeds in place just float to the top of the bowl so it is easy to sort out the fruit. I wash and dry the seeds and then I freeze them on an open tray after scattering them apart so that they do not freeze into a hard ball. Frozen pomegranite seeds are really refreshing and somehow the pips seem a lot softer too. I put the seeds into small bowls with teaspoons for ease of eating. Guests love them and there is no mess.

I have seen one in our local grocery but the price is a bit pricey for me to buy it. So I have not really tasted it myself. I know this fruit is quite nutritious they say. I wish someday I could finally taste this fruit as well.

That's why I never bought them in America too! But my grocery has them at half-price all week, so I am enjoying them! If you want the health benefits, they are similar to cranberry and blueberry I think. There is also pomegranate juice, but I think that the taste is too strong for a juice. Maybe if it's mixed with something like apple, it would be good!
