I'm an assistant at university. My teacher said to me that go and give a lesson to class for improve my ability to teach. That's good, but when I went to class, nobody was there. I went to my teacher's room and explained this situation. Then he said that I will punish them with exam. What should I do ? Have I done a mistake to told teacher ?

No, there's nothing wrong with that. Where did all the students go? I guess it's their teacher's responsibility to teach and not yours. It's good for them to receive a punishment because they should stay in their classroom to study. Maybe they won't do it again if they'll get a punishment. Don't worry about it. You did the right thing. Goodluck and happy mylotting.

They don't have any choice but to take the exam. LOL. It's Friday so they maybe got lazy to come to class and went somewhere. Students are like that sometimes. You're welcome.

Once upon a time, I was student too. But I have never did like this behaviour. I think It's relevant to loving job. I guess that they don't want to be agricultural engineer.

it was good you told the teacher and he or she must know why the students do not perform good, it is because most of the time they bunk classes. It is sad, i was not like this when I was in college. I could see the lecture theater full but now i don't know what these kids do. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

hi, i am also graduated in education but that kind of situation never happen to me,i think the problem is in the students and not in you, maybe because they said that you are the one who will teach them and they set you aside, that is why students should have a disciplinary action that they will not hurt.

Those students should have known better than skipping lecture. They act more like high school rather than college students. Are they first year students in college?

How big is the class? It's just strange that all of them are absent. Perhaps it's some kind of misunderstanding; did they hear some words going around that there was no class, or something like that?

The students clearly were at fault, not you. And by taking an exam, they might hate it, but it might be good for their grades (more opportunities to earn points)! They should be more responsible and attend their lectures. Hopefully there was not a miscommunication where they didn't realize that the class was at the time/place. That is very strange... Occasionally that happens with my students, but I usually hear back that there was a holiday or a big issue in their community...I just wish they would tell me. For example, I planned to take Eid ul-Adha off for them, but they ended up taking off the day before in order to read through the Qur'an (there was some type of special event at the masjid) and showed up the next day! My students are older adults learning English, though...so there are always a few miscommunications!
