I shed a tear as I realized the death of my country has come to pass

On November 6th my country effectively died. With the election for a second term of Obama it brought about a change for my country that was any thing but good for the country. All of my life I have been taught that hard work will pave the road for the things that you want. Not any more according to Obama you do not have to work and you can sit on your butt all day long while others work to support you. I do not feel that its right or fair for me to have to work harder to support those that are just riding on my coat tails. This type of government is not what makes America a great place this type of government will be the down fall of America. I understand that every one needs healthcare but why should I have to be the one that pays for it. If they need medical then they need to get up and get a job and work for what they want the same as me. I am tired of my country being a hand out to all that want it with nothing in return. I have worked for the same company Qdoba Mexican Grill for the past 3 years. I have bent over backwards to learn the job and to promote my self with in the company. I started out as a prep cook and now I am a manager I have worked hard to get where I am in the company. I have not missed one day in 3 years I am always there and I come in early at every call even covering shifts on my days off. You would think that with a track record like that I would have nothing to worry about however that is not correct. Now that Obama has been reelected things are about to change and to be honest this is not the type of change that my country needs. With the re-election of Obama that means that his obamacare will be going into effect. Basically tying the hands of the employer and forcing them to provide medical coverage to all employees that work over 30 hours a week or 120 hours a month. How can that be bad right every one gets benefits and every one gets quality medical care regardless of the situation well let me tell you my story and you will see how its not good for every one its only good for those that want every thing for free but are not willing to give anything in return. As I said before I have been with the same company for 3 years and work over 40 hours every week. According to Obamacare I would be one of the employees that would be getting benefits. However my employer has had his hands tied and is being forced to do something that will cost the company more than the owner is willing to spend. So the day of the election he had a meeting with all his upper management to discuss how they would deal with obamacare if Obama was to be reelected. This is what they came up with and the sad thing is that I bet there are other business owners that have had the same type of meeting trying to find a way to make it work but realizing that it will never work so this is their solution to this problem. Effective 12/31/12 all employees are to be cut down in hours to below 30 hours a week and to not exceed 120 hours in a month so during the months that have 5 weeks you can basically take a week off of work as you will exceed the 120 hours in that month if you work during that 5th week. So this is what it will look like for me when its all said and done. I will work my 30 hours a week that my employer has available for me and I will not get insurance benefits which means that I will have to provide them for my self and my family however since my hours have been cut by 40+ hours in a month I will not be able to afford the premiums that are required for insurance, so the federal government is going to fine me because I can not afford to get insurance for me and my family, now the IRS is the ones that will be responsible for collecting the fines and you know how they are they always get what’s owed to them. So I will get garnished at my part time job and will be in a worse way with even less money as I won’t ever be able to afford the insurance premiums this will be a cycle constant and forever going. Can’t pay premiums, fine, cant pay fine, pay gets garnished, still can’t pay premiums, etc etc. So with a repeating cycle of never getting ahead always falling behind I will have no choice but to get on food stamps and welfare just to provide food and housing for my family. What it really means? Is that the lazy people continue to get to sit on their butts getting a hand out while the middle class me becomes the poor and the rich get richer. With policy’s like this it’s no wonder that our country is in such debt. This is not the American dream and it sure as heck is not my dream either.

Excuse me but Obamacare doesn't go into effect until 2020! I am not scared of it because as long as it doesn't affect my insurance I get through work I don't care! My premiums for next year will be down and I am happy! So stop over reacting! The USA is not that bad! If you think it is,please move to another country to see if any other country is better then the US! I kow the US has its problems but remember this:We have freedom of speech. Freedom to bare arms. Freedom to vote for who we want to. WOman have rights! In so many countries none of this exists! We got it alot better then you realize!

First off your dates are really wrong and perhaps you should look into it a little bit more before you respond with incorrect information. The facts as stated on the Obamacare web page is that it goes into effect in 2014. As for the freedoms you listed you forgot one the freedom of religion and I know several people that it is against their religion to seek medical treatment so there for the forcing of medical insurance on them is a violation of their constitutional rights. So as it stands if they don't get medical insurance they will be fined. Hmmm sounds pretty cut and dry to me that their religious freedoms are about to be taken away. Take one freedom and that gives them the right, take another freedom and no one notices. And if you would like to read up on what obamcare here is the link that gives you dates. http://obamacarefacts.com/benefitsofobamacare.php

I dont think its that bad. problem with the united states is, the people who would make a great president there dont want the job. But one thing, might have been much worse had Romney have won. At least with obama, after 4 years you know what you have to look forward to the next 4 years. Have a great weekend there,

Four years is a long time when it comes to this. Had any one other than Obama won we would not be facing this right now. Its a huge deal when in one town this will effect 10 places that employee 50 employees each if not more, and that's just the ones that are owned by the same guy that owns the one I work at. I can also guess that its not just my place of employment that will have to go to such scheduling, this will effect the food service industry across the board it will not be just one chain but them all. So all I can wish for is that the next four years fly by.

No, maria, there are people here that would make a great president that DO want the job. The problem is that America has become so infested with Liberalism and the mindset of many that there is nothing wrong with socialism that when someone runs for president, that would seek to restore America to the principles she was founded on, they are attacked relentlessly by the mainstream media and others in the public eye(i.e. celebrities, socialist politicians) until they are viewed as radicals. Then it becomes very difficult for them to even be taken seriously as a candidate, much less be nominated. I voted for Romney because I knew that Obama had taken this country in the wrong direction the last four years and that he had no intentions of reversing course. True, Romney might have been worse but he might have been better. And he showed me enough to believe that electing him would at the very least be a step in the right direction. But, now we'll never know. Yes, with Obama, we know what to look forward to over the next four years, and it's not a pretty sight. And THAT'S what's so depressing about it.

You know what I'd like? Health insurance at a reasonable price. Currently, if I seek health insurance, I can either be rejected out of hand, or charged an obscene price because I have a preexisting condition. Never mind that for the last four years, I could probably count on my fingers the number of doctors appointments I've had because of my lacking insurance. Obamacare will offer me a chance to get health insurance without lying. But that is the ONLY part of the law that I agree with. I'd also like to have a full time job, but that's not happening. I'm either undereducated or unqualified for a desk job, and my health prevents me from working eight hours a day. So I've been barely scraping by on what little I could make. Many good jobs were shipped overseas so that the business owners could get a tax break, but the jobs that have been created are so low paying that one would need to work 48 a DAY to actually support a family, or require an expensive education-and that education won't guarantee someone a job to PAY for that education! Poor will disappear, the middle class will whine about not having as much (as if the poor ever got a break!), and the rich will gleefully laugh as they rake in their money!. I'm poor currently (I'm barely employed but not collecting unemployment), but was raised middle class. I am working on a plan to drag myself out of this poor-me attitude that so many people seem to have, and rise above it. I have to, and if my boyfriend doesn't get rid of his lousy attitude, I'll leave. I'm not letting anyone hold me back any more. I'm keeping my American dream!

I know how that is with a preexisting condition and it does not matter that I have not had any form of treatment for it in 11 years. I was diagnosed with cancer 11 years ago and I beat it. So when you say that you cant get a good price I am right there with you. I am not upset about obamacare what I am upset about is how its worded and how the employers are able to bend the wording to fit what they want and have it work for them. Perhaps if it was worded differently and that there were no hourly limits the employers would have no choice but to provide it for every one that works for them that would be a much better way to handle the situation. Like get rid of the hourly limits and make it straight across the board if your employeed then you get insurance. If you only work 15 hours a week then you get the lowest rung insurance that is available and the more hours you work the better your insurance is. If you want to upgrade the insurance your employer provides then you can pay the difference at least that seems like a better idea from my point of view. As for jobs I think that its going to get worse when you look at it. People are going to have their hours cut needing to get 2 and even 3 jobs just to make the ends meet. I see a time when people will not be able to find a job as they all will be filled with part time workers that have to work 3 jobs just to pay the premiums so that the federal government does not fine them taking more money from their already limited funds.

There is no such thing as "FREE"...Someone has to pay for it. In the case of obamderthalcare, 49%of us will pay for healthcare for 51% of the 'entitled'. By 'entitled', I do not mean the elderly or the truly disabled...I mean those able bodied who have managed to get ssi etc, the illegal immigrants, and others. I do not think that anyone should be forced to pay their hard earned wages to folks who have no intention of every working. I am disabled and only earn $12,000 a year...but I am not on the dole. I do not get ssi or food stamps or medicaid. I buy nothing that is not life necessary and manage to pay my bills every month. I too had cancer years ago and cannot afford health ins. Just watch, when obamderthalcare is implemented, we still will not be able to afford it and it will not cover anything anyway...Keep reading as it comes available online. If a man is 65 or over, he cannot be treated for prostate cancer any more. Women do not qualify for colonoscopies AT ALL! What, we do not get colon cancer, only men do? obamderthalcare is raising the prices of everything in America...EVERYTHING! 49% will get nothing from obamderthalcare, but we will pay thousands of dollars for it. It is not even in effect yet, but we have been funding it in various ways thourgh various "taxes" for almost 2 years now. Those on the dole are going to get an increase in their food stamps and other programs to offset these new costs...Who do you suppose is paying for the increase in food stamps etc.? Certainly not the 51%.

The one thing you said that I don't think is true is that you will go without insurance. Yes, it will be manditory, but you will receive help to pay for it if you can't afford it. You will not be fined. You may perhaps, qualify for medicaid, but if not, there will be programs available to you for insurance. I really think you need to look at your employer's motives for this. For one thing, there are always layoffs and cut hours after the holidays. Then things pick back up and you get your hours back. Another problem may be that he hust doesn't want to cut into his profits to provide the right kind of benefits for his employees, which tells me he is not a person I would want to work for. Maybe you should look for another job. I really think your title is not appropriate and extremely melodramatic.

The fact that hours are getting cut has nothing to do with the holidays and the fact that they will last for at least 4 years tells me that is one of the longest holidays ever. As for picking back up and getting my hours back that will not be happening any time in the near future. The funny thing is that he provides benefits now he offers his Management team benefits for each of his stores however hourly line people do not qualify for benefits as it sits now and the fact of the matter is that most of the employee's that work for this company are teenagers and college students that are currently covered by their parents so its not him being greedy its him standing up for his right to run his business the way that he see's fit.

Autumnrose2008 I was very disappoinbted that Obama won too. I am sorry for the effect the election will have on you and many other Americans. I don't really know yet how I will be affected. I do know that the tide will turn and the country will go through another cycle..it has happened before and it will again. Problem is we don't know how many will be hurt in the meantime. Good luck and God Bless..

Its a sad day when the solution to the problem is bigger than the problem was. What most people dont realize is that oh yea they say this will create jobs but in fact it really wont create any new jobs all that it will create is a bunch of people that work part time for just above the minimum wage and it will create tons of jobs tons of part time jobs that the employers are not required to pay for benefits. Leaving those that need the benefits in a worse boat than before obamacare even came into the picture.

I could see it going down in a spiral, when they started taking Christianity from the schools, government, and public places, that's when it started to go down !

I guess every country just have some people who are unhappy with their current president or leader and with the way their leader is running their country and the government. It's the same here, and I am not surprised that it would also be somewhere else. It's just sad that we cannot have the perfect leader. Anyway, I hope that things will work out for you and your country as well as all other countries in this world.
