I enjoy movies that were made in the 60's and 70's. I have to laugh when I see the afros people used to get because they usually make them look over the top and bigger than they usually were. They alwys wear bellbottom jeans, vests, and shoes with huge block heels. I never had an afro but wore and still do the bellbottom jeans. I also had those huge shoes with the block style heels. Do you watch old movies and what kind?

Yes, I love to watch old movies, specially movies by Clint Eastwood like Dirty Harry
and Magnum Force. There are lot's of good movies during the 60s and the 70s like the 007 James bond movies starring Sean Connery in Dr. No and Goldfinger; the unforgetable The Godfather and The Godfather Part II and Rocky and Rocky II of Sylvester Stallone. Finally Saturday Night Fever the american dance film that put actors John Travolta into the limelight.
The 60s to 70s give rise to afro hairstyle into fashion, with the bell bottoms pants and high heel shoes. But this fashion trends just revolving and evolving and will one day become fashionable again.
Have a nice week end.
Ciao!

I know that there are always "retro" movements, but I wish we had kept the 70s retro styles instead of the current 80s throwbacks! Bellbottoms and afros are awesome! I still try to find them at thrift stores when I can...at least something with flare!
And I'd rather listen to the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Carole King, and James Taylor than 80s pop!

I prefer the popular movies of recent times esp. the award-winning movies. In fact, I've been downloading the blue ray torrents of these movies for my library.
As for very old movies, I'm not really familiar with any of them. But I think I'll get started with the Charlie Chaplin movies and see where that leads me.

Charlie Chaplin is a good place to start although they are usually not talkies. There are very few movies I would like to watch today and because I don't really like them I will wait until they come on cable which is usually not long after they his the cinemas.

I was never impressed by Charlie Chaplin and could not understand why he was such a popular actor. I have seen quite s few of his movies and they do not inspire me at all.
For actors of that genre and era I have always preferred Harold LLoyd, who was not only very amusing but performed some of the most incredible stunts possible. I would recommend try a film called Safety Last in which he climbs a high rise building.

Three's Company, the TV show? I like that show. And I like watching Jack Tripper (John Ritter) doing his antics. He's a very funny guy.
Thankfully, there are torrent sites offering old TV shows for download. I get nostalgic watching them again.

I love old movies and watching my favorites when they were younger. Did you know that Richard Gere and Clint Eastwood looked so fantastic when they were younger. I have a collection of VCD's of the best and better films made in the past generations. We often watch it all over again especially when the kids need ideas on how to go about with their costumes. I even have some of the films made way back in the 50's and I tell you they were really good with amazing storylines. What we have now are movies made with different technological innovations with hardly any story. I just wonder what kind of movies will be shown in the next 20 years or so.

Oh, yes love to watch old movies and shows. It seems like the older movies and shows had morals and values. Now days most shows and movies have violence and no theme to them. My husband and I watch a lot of Western movies, don't even know if they make Westerns anymore? I like the older comedies.

I never could get into westerns and I agree the movies out there today don't show any morals or values. Kids can't even get into a movie without an adult. That's saying a lot about the movies they are making tody. There are very few westerns made today.

The thing that always surprises me is that when I watched these films originally they were realistic and well produced, although now they seem so badly composed and unrealistic. It seems as though they are not the same films that I remember, but of course they actually are. It is surprising how our impression of something can change so drastically once we are introduced to a better quality.
I occasionally like to watch very old films, those from the 1920s or 1930s. Despite being so dated they can often have quite decent storylines, and some of the poorer ones can be very amusing to watch nowadays.

Yeah, I had the bellbottoms, hiphuggers and big shoes, too.
No afro but really log, straight hair. But the movies I like to watch are from a different era - late 1920's to the late 40's. Not the silents. I like the old b&w movies. My favorites are William Powell & Myrna Loy, musicals with choreography by Busby Berkeley with his kaleidoscopic dance numbers and overhead shots and all those old dark house mystery movies. There are quite a few sites where you can watch these movies for free. They remind me of a better time and place.
