I was graduated as Bachelor of Science of Nursing last May 2011, after our graduation we were so busy in our review. Before the graduation, while our class was on going, our review was also on going. So, everything was pressured and lots of bombarded requirements that needs to be done. Nevertheless, all the hardship and trials was finished. I took the board examination last December 2011 but unfortunately I was failed. I cannot pursue my plans because of that failure. It's just like all your plans has been stopped, you cannot move, you cannot proceed to the next step, everything has been stuck up but I was still hopeful and brave despite of those collapsing moment. However, I want to take again for the second time but suddenly the opportunity burst out unexpectedly which was the teaching position in Thailand. Without hesitation, I grabbed it in an instant together with my friend because I want someone to join with me this enormous journey though, there was still failures but motionless, we were still persevering, continuing and pursuing the plans just to get the job. Anyway, we did it ! I am now currently working now as Teacher in High School and I experienced working as Primary Teacher for 6 months then I transferred here because I finished the contract there. I'm happy that I am safe as well as the place and also I'm surrounded with nice people. I so feel safe. My work is not too pressured for me because they are accommodating and they will anticipate my needs, everything ! I can access internet to communicate with my friends and family but I have only one problem of my 4th year students, mostly they are not cooperative but the other year level is very cooperative. They are so different. Can you help me about this on how will I handle it or what is the best activity that I will do for them that is very interesting to their minds? Now, I have another concern about the decision I made that I had mentioned above.. Do you think my decision to become a teacher is good? though it is not my real profession? and do you think grabbing the opportunity in an instant is a good decision? Is there any wrong about my decision? I need your insights my friends. Thank you for reading and listening. :)

Judging on the way you describe your situation right now, it seems that you have made a good decision as you seem to be happy and contented. Your case is not unusual. I have friends who have graduated from a course and worked or work on a different field. I, too never plan on practicing my degree when I get it. I guess everybody just have their place in life and everyone must make a choice for it. You have made your choice and it seems good. I hope that you will remain happy and successful. Good luck and more power!

I have to ask, what subject are you now majoring in? Does your school require you to take courses related to Education so that you will be a license teacher?

I'm teaching only English subject here and that license is not mandatory as long as you are college graduate in any fields, they will accept you. :)

A strategy to one class may not apply to another class. you are still new handling these students.. they don't know you yet and you don't know them too. don't typecast these class as non-cooperative class because that will cloud your mind and lose your interest of teaching them. Every student should receive fair and equal treatment from you. Try to know which type of learners they are maybe they are really different. Aren't you glad that they are, in case? That gives you a little kick to your everyday teaching time. a little left or right turn to your one-way direction in other words. They always say that teachers are born and not made. Maybe you are a born teacher you just didn't find when you were still thinking of the course you are going to take in College. but the fate has led you to this direction. dont you think so my friend. ;c) relax.. it's nice to be a teacher. don't be frantic.

since you didn't train to be a teacher, you could have teaching in your blood. why not talk to other teachers in your school who are older and more experienced. do not make them think you are ignorant though; they'll help you more to adapt to your new career. nursing is like teaching, you know.

This was your true destiny to become a teacher, yet even if you have not pass the board examination, you can still take another one in the future, that is if you still wanted to serve as a nurse. When you realized the situation,it is not bad you have never make it to become a nurse, yet it is good because you have landed another worthy job because you could still serve so many people, not just people but future leaders of the country. You still have so many test to perform upon going to become a full pledge nurse.

You are indeed the new bread of teacher with a medical background.I think you could learn a lot more upon your constant exposures to your students.Teaching is not a bad work to fulfill to excel its pros and cons, yet you must think that there are so many obstacles in your new carrier to get through like your hard headed students, good and polite students, and other many students with so many different characteristics. You may find it difficult to cope with all these students in your first few weeks, but you could make it through your fighting spirit and the will to teach these students makes you a perfect teacher.

It is very funny how things changes because of opportunities knocking on our doors. Or shall I say, it just like a game of nature. I was once a teacher for four years in high school however, opportunity came to work as a caregiver. I simply resigned although I love teaching because of I am still looking for better future for me and for my family but the best that I am looking became worst. Well, I am already an immigrant now and will go back to school for nursing program. In other words, from being a teacher to become a nurse. Our decisions will depends on every aspects of our lives. It is continually changing...

I have a friend that also worked as a teacher in Thailand, she decided to went home to her province last month. She didn't have a good experience with her employer I think. She didn't tell me the whole detail yet as shes not ready to open up. It's bad that she doesn't want to remember. She had managed to stay for almost a year there though. I hope you can survive, be tough!!

Nurse or Teacher. I would strongly say that both professions are extremely good. Here in Dubai both teachers and nurses are getting high pay. I do suggest to choose the career path that gives you satisfaction. As you have already invested some years in studying nursing , i would suggest you to attend the exams for one more time and complete the course. After the completion of course, you can become a nursing lecture too.

And maybe soon in God's will, I will take for a second time around if I will come back in the Philippines. So, you are now in Dubai? Wow May I know your job there? If you just don't mind. Thank you for the good words. :)

Thanks a ton sharing this discussion. Well i can understand your condition and i think it is not a big deal to feel insecure about being a teacher. In fact teachership is one of the most revered profession in this world. I think we should never have this feeling that we are restricted after completing a course. Time can lead us to any circumstances and we should be prepared to face all such situations and conditions. Now since u are a teacher, u should enjoy your profession and forget whatever has happened in the past. What say?

Hi there!, I do agreed of what you had said, let's just embrace of what we have now and face all the unexpected happened in our lives. We cannot manipulate the plans of God, I believe that he puts me in a good field that fits to my capability but I will never forget my real profession but only thing I can say is the experiences are enough. Thank you for dropping your comments. :)

I think only you can answer those questions. Are you happy with your current career/work? Is there any long term plans after your stint there? If you enjoy what you do and at the same time you are getting just payment for it, then I guess you're in the right track despite a switch in your chosen career.

I don't know yet for now, I signed the contract only for 1 year but hopefully there will be a good news afterwards. Yes, I do enjoy but sometimes you feel alone but I can handle it. Never mind. Thank you for your response. :)

Many people change their jobs. My brother has a law degree. He then decided to join the navy. Now he owns a secretarial business here. Hope you are happy with what you have chosen there.
