A sunny Spring day is all my plants need.

About 3 weeks ago, my daughter gave me some tomato seedlings. I planted them in containers because I had my raised beds with lettuce, kale and leeks. I didn`t know that the tomatoes would love their environment. They are thriving and most of them even have small yellow blossoms. A week ago I bought some basil seedlings and placed then each alone in very small containers. They grew nicely and this evening, in a recess from mylot, I planted them directly in soil. I pulled out some leeks and planted the basil and some arugule seeds in between. I am happy, my plants are happy and I feel that everything is going to be ok in the whole world. Do you have this feeling when the sun is shining? Share. (By the way, I`m already thinking about the awesome pesto I`ll make with the basil plants).

Dear marguicha I love the sunshine specially this time of the year and also during the winters. It helps me relieve some of the pain due to the arthritis and also feels great. Though, this part of the country doesnt need me to sunbathe but still if I could, I would lie down out in the morning sunshine or even sometime during the day to get some goodness of the sun into me I am sorry, I have not much idea about gardening or growing up the plants despite my mom and my late grannies being good gardners. The only two plants that we have on our terrace are the only ones I know about and all I do is water them, and sometimes, do their soil.

I know what you mean, friend. I also suffer from arthritis. Sun does not take away all the pain, but it helps. I imagine that being happy when there`s sun also helps as a pain reliever as we can make our own endorphines.

Seeing as how we are coming into the winter season here in the northern hemisphere, I have a feeling that it is going to be a long time before I am able to enjoy the warm sunshine outside the lack of sunlight (from the time change) is already adversely affecting me. However, I do feel like everything is right in the world when the weather outside is very nice and I tend to get very depressed when we have days where there is no sunshine.

I also get depressed when there`s no sunshine. I have found out that I can do several thing for my garden during the cold months here. Of course, we don`t have snow.

I am an agricultural engineer. I know that feeling of breed something. It's awesome. Every morning, I go field and check my plants (wheats and cottons). We setup experiments for high yield on drought. And we take successful conclusions. It's good feeling that follow plants on seedling to harvesting.

I am so happy that after just one day of placing the basil in the soil, it`s already bigger and thriving. It seems that I will have all the amount I will need for this years pesto. I have only seen a cotton plant in books though. There are none where I live.

the sun always shines in the Philippines even after a tropical storm. yes let's try to grow our own food to be independent even in hard times, my wife recently bought a pack of seeds of wing beans or what is locally known as " sigarilyas" and we plan to revive our garden to make it self supporting for personal consumption , We make the kids plant seeds all at the same time and who ever makes it grow the biggest ( we have a deadline) gets a special prize

My brother was cleaning up his garden last wek and he told me he`d throw away some big foam containers if I didn`t want them. I brought them home, placed good soil there and planted bean seeds. I hope I`ll have enough green beans to last the whole season ( and maybe freeze some for vegetable soups).

My chatname is Sunshine. It brightens everyone in the room as they say. I don't know if it is real or not but I feel better too when I am called sunshine instead of my name ha ha ha. Sunshine is warm but too much of it could also kill and burn. so just the morning sunshine is the best and it glows also our cheeks when we go out and face the sunshine from the East, i mean from the sunrise. Wow Pesto spaghetti... wheeeewwwww... i like that can I have a taste of it? just kidding. Go and go like the smurfs.. plant and the world needs more green these days.

I love plants. I would not like to live in an apartment as I need to have some soil to dig and some plants to talk to. I also have some indoor plants, but they are not as the ones outside.

I`m doing my best to take care of myself, Jo. The only thing I don`t do is walk as much as the doctor wants me to. But I think that doing some gardening is some exercise too. Even though our Winters are mild, still days are gray and cold. I love Spring!

We also put some plants in small containers and transfer them to soil when they grow, tomatoes can grow in a smaller container or even a bag with soil for some time but then you'll need to move them to the ground! The sun is very important for your plants! Let us know about your pesto and your tomatoes when they are ready to harvest!

This year I`ll leave my tomatoes in containes, but they are big ones. This year I have seen many snails around and it`s easier to make a line they can`t cross if the plants are higher.

I know I definitely feel better when the sun is shining. When the sunshine isn't shining I feel depressed. Speaking of being depressed, I think that plants can go through depression too. When I have plants that are looking wilty, I gave then extra attention and even talk to them.

Plants respond very well to conversation. I like to talk to them and tell them how beautiful they are. Vanity is one of their qualities I don`t like Winter at all and try to skip a couple of weeks by going somewhere where the sun shines when the Winter is here.
