Online banking. If possible!!

A few weeks ago I made a mistake trying to log in on my bank account. I guess the mistake was made because I had a terrible pain from an infection in my ear. Anyway, access was blocked so I had to ask for my data wich were sent in a letter that only today I received. I tried to log in and guess what? blocked! Now I tried to get a new password. I had to go from one link to another and then again another one. This was all very time consuming. Only to find out in the end that my request was NOT sent. Trying to contact the bank seems impossible. I really wonder why they have to make these simple things so difficult. "To protect us" they claim. Yeah right! A hacker can go faster in my account then I can do it myself. Really, 20 year ago a letter was altready enough. Or going to the bank where the people knew you. But these daysnobody knows anybody anymore. Personal help is old fashioned. And if you're not good with the internet: "Sorry for you, we can't help you". Just simple things are made so difficult. And no clear guidelines. I wonder how many people have the same (or almost the same) problems. It's really very upsetting. I feel like a small child that needs to ask for help.

I have a lot of online accounts with various companies, so I can appreciate the problems that you are encountering. The only logical approach is the one that you have already tried, which is having a new temporary password sent to your email address. It sometimes does happen that the email is not sent, so I would suggest returning to the website and requesting a password again.

This bank only sends a password to cellphones. You then have 30 minutes to create a new password. Problem is, that my bank is in Holland and I live in the Philippines. So it's not easy to make a phonecall (unless I chose to spend a fortune on it). There would not be a problem if they give clients options. But nooooooooooooooo, only via cellphone. Then I went to their help page and did exactly what they asked for. In the end nothing had happened. It's all so time consuming, unnecessary difficult and really annoying! It almost ruined my day!

If they only send a temporary password via text to a mobile phone, then I assume that you remembered to add the international prefix for your country to the telephone number, otherwise you would not receive a message. Also, the bank's website should have a contact link by which you can email them, which would be the only option remaining.

Yep, I entered the righ number including the country code, skipping the first 0 and yet they didn't 'recognize' it. Maybe they don't send to Asian countries? Finding their email addres is another ful-time-job!

Well I'm not surprise how the banks are working. They first of all don't trust anybody and we don't trust them either for a good reason. The system is not designed to help anybody that are not young and not healthy and good with computer, yes they help better the thieves like themselves. For the interest rate that they give us it would be better to keep our money at home in a safe.I'm looking forward that they all close their doors.have fun.

wahahahahaha beenice, my sentiments exactly! Long time ago baks were just good, protecting our money. But somewhere down the road they decided to use OUR money for their own goods! It's a ridiculous system that should be questioned world wide. Look at it this way: they NEED our money. That's their sole reason to exist in the first place. Or should be. Now they pretend it's all theirs. Well, it's NOT! Happy mylotting!

Online banking is so complicated because of the user's privacy. I used to work for a company that also concerns online banking, and we have a lot of measures the keep the user's account private, and those measures make the process really complicated. If you're going to contact customer service regarding your account problems, you really have to listen to them in order for them to help you. Trust me, I've been on the receiving end and customers get mad instead of listening just because they can't understand what the rep is saying. They should ask questions, it's better than pretending to know what they're doing and end up doing something wrong and counter-productive.

Actually i was referring to my Dutch account. And living far away seems to make matters worse. With my Philippino bank I never have problems. Well.......yes, I was waiting for almost an hour once because I wanted to send money to my friend's account. But.............different bank so "Sorry sir, we can't put this money on another bank's account". D'OHHHHH What are banks for???? Went to 'his' bank then. Only to find out that they only allow money coming in from abroad!!!! So after almost 3 hours I still had the money in my pocket. Went to MHuillier and it was fixed in less then 15 minutes!

I agree, if online access get locked it is very time consuming to get the access back. You need to call them, provide all information and then request them to unblock or ask them to send new password, in all it takes more time then visiting bank, update pass book and check the details.

Calling to my bank in Hollanf will be more than just time consuming: "One moment please, all our employees are busy helping other people at the moment" -boring music- "One moment please all our........" By the time I get this problem solved I will hear: "Your account is empty now!!" LOL
