I was sick

When I went to bed on Thursday night, my stomach felt a little bit upset and I thought that it might have been because I drank a little bit more than I'm used to drinking. I ended up sick several times during the night and into the morning and then it moved on to the other end. By dinner time on Friday evening I was feeling better, but I was still afraid to eat (I'd been taking in plenty of fluid and keeping that down, I was just scared in general). So for dinner on Friday I ate two little cups of Jello with a Poweraide. Saturday morning I woke up like a ravenous beast and ate a couple more Jello cups and a cup of Ramen. I ate a regular dinner yesterday night. This evening I ate beef stew at my mother's house and that hit my stomach like a lead weight. Didn't make me sick, but didn't sit right either. This got me to thinking, is there anyone else that is like me and is pretty much afraid to eat for several days after they've been sick? Have you ever been able to get ahead of a virus that has gone through your family and not get it? (I've done this several times in the past by going to a light/liquid diet when I see the others in the house start to come sick). Do you have any kind of a diet that you will follow after you've been sick to start to make you feel like yourself? Sorry to start a sickly conversation, but I'm not one that is sick often and since both of the kids are in school now, I need to start getting better about being sick (as odd as it sounds).

I was absent from work too last Friday due to cough and colds. I did not feel well so I opted to stay home and get some rest. Anyways, when I do have an upset stomach I also try to avoid some food and take only soft diet such as porridge and more on liquids. It helps ne feel better then I wait til I can eat solid foods again. Hope you are feeling a lot better now like I do.

You are right that it is important to maintain some nutrition with us when we are sick. That is the reason that I tend to go to drinking a lot as opposed to eating. Still I'm afraid of getting sick again even though it has been three days since I was so sick.

Drinking liquid like water- enough of it- is advisable. It can't upset the stomach. There could be other matters behind. If you've regain health and feel like eating, of course we can do so with caution not to tax too much the digestive system.

Fallen ill with serious diseases make health collapsed instantly. The recovery process was a thing to be passed later. Yes, a disease that attacks would make you weak and drained of energy. I've been there and made ??me weak and powerless. Although medical care is passed, does not mean your energy will quickly return to its original state. This mainly happens when you suffer from viral infections such as typhoid fever, scarlet fever, smallpox, malaria, and other diseases. I suggest, therefore, that a quick recovery period is exceeded, you must be obedient to maintain body condition. Try to rest as much as you can. Your body will gain strength with just the right quantity of rest. So, do not quickly go until you're really strong. You may have severe digestive problems during your recovery from illness. The first solution, consume foods that are easily digested. Do not eat spicy foods and eat in small portions but the frequency often. Severe treatment can kill the good bacteria that makes you so weak digestion. Eating lots of yogurt contains good bacteria which can help the digestive process more smoothly. Yogurt can also help the good bacteria in your stomach to grow back.

I didn't even think about eating yogurt as I am getting better, but that is definitely a good idea because not only is yogurt very good for you, it is also one of my favorite foods.

i know what you mean and at my age i have to be even more careful, plus the kids all know that as they will say, mom im coming down with something i dont want you to catch so im not hugging or hanging out for a day or so and be careful. i usually keep up with the zicam and vitamin C, plus like you i try to eat light just in case and especially if things start feeling yuck when i eat

I tend to be a light eater anyway, but when I know that there is a virus that I might be getting, I will try to eat even lighter than I will typically eat, meaning I will avoid almost all solid foods and stick with drinks and soup and definitely no dairy foods.

Oh no! Hope you are feeling better today! The kids were sick a little over a couple weeks ago. My son was tossing and turning a lot - and by 4:30am he threw up in his bed - argh! I cleaned it all up . . . thinking it must have been something bad he ate (we had gone to Shakey's pizza for dinner). And an hour later I heard his tummy rumbling and he threw up again. And then again. He wasn't eating much the next the and was rather grumpy with a slight fever - but he slept well. The next morning he seemed to be fine except that he got awfully quiet after his yogurt when we dropped my daughter off at school . . . we got home and just as I was about to undo his seat belt, he threw up!!!!!! Then he was ok for the rest of the day - but that night my daughter my daughter wasn't up to eating much dinner . . . and around midnight, sure enough she started throwing up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She went through the exact same thing as my son did. Anyway, my hubby and I (knock on wood) did not get the stomach bug from them. This has been going around and we know many parents who ended up getting it too. I know hubby didn't do anything in particular - but he is out of the house most of the time so he doesn't get as much house germy exposure. Me, this time around I found a recipe for homemade gatorade so the kids would not get dehydrated from throwing up so much (and not get the sugar that Gatorade has) . . . so I drank that myself. It had warm water, lemon juice, raw honey, and sea salt in it. I try not to have dairy or sugar in my diet too (and that goes for the whole family). And I pump up the garlic in our foods whenever possible! BUT now we all have a plain ol' cold - argh!! You take care!!

That is the first time that I've heard of homemade gatorade, but it sounds like it might be something that would be good to drink in order to keep from getting dehydrated. Me, I am eating now, but not quite the same as I would usually eat. I am also still drinking Poweraide just to make sure that I don't end up getting dehydrated.

Poor Dorannmwin first of all I hope you get better really really fast. When I feel sick I will make sure I get lots of fluids and I will eat rolled oats nuked with water and then adding a splash of milk and ground ginger to it. thats a good way of dealing with an upset stomach.

I am feeling a lot better now and I'm mostly back to my old self. I ate two pieces of pizza for dinner tonight and I've really not had any problems since early in the day on Friday.

I'm glad that I'm feeling better as well. I think it was not only a virus that was going around that got me down, I also think that the fact that our temperatures have been going through wild swings that have had some impact on me as well.
