This will be my first year celebrating Hanukkah

I ordered a menorah, the 9-candle one from ebay, the seller is in Israel. I'll probably buy the candles locally, and will be buying small gifts for each of the 8 days to celebrate. Since I'm finally part of a messianic congregation it'll be easier for me to learn about it as opposed to trying to learn on the Internet. First 7 days will be a small gift maybe chocolate coins and a little need/toy. Last night will be a nice gift that I can afford for my kids. I know it's a learning experiecne for me.

If you really want to know more about Judaism, I'm certain that the rabbi at your local synagogue would be happy to have you attend services and would be willing to talk with you about the faith. Perhaps, you will find a home within Judaism and decide to convert. I am working to build a more Jewish home here. My boyfriend was born into a Jewish family and is finding his way to a deeper connection to our faith, and I am on the path to officially converting. Last year, we were in the process of packing and moving back North, so we did not have the chance to really observe Hannukah. This year, however, we will do a bit more for the (relatively minor) holiday.

That is what I do, last night is the better gift. When you get your menorah, you should post a picture, I'd love to see it. I have two different menorahs, one is cast iron, goes beautifully with my wood burning stove and an electric one for when we can't get candles. See, locally, as in a 20 mile radius, there is NOTHING for Hanukkah, I am in an anti-feast county, so we have to travel at least 40 miles to purchase our candles. I have some for this year though, last year we traveled after Hanukkah and I got the candles on clearance, I stuck them in the freezer and they are ready to go.. Here is an idea for your kids first gift if you don't have it already: dreidel. They are pretty cheap and it is nothing to search and print out the instructions. If you want any more ideas, just let me know..;)
