We just have the dried fig here and we use it to make a soup. As to the fresh fig, it is not available here. Perhaps it is still possible to find it imported in a few supermarkets. But the price is really expensive. So I am really curious about this fruit.

I love figs... but they are very hard to find in my area of mexico. They get them closer to the borders cities with the usa. Anytime Ive seen them here they are really to high to buy them. I sure miss them.

Youless, so far i never seen any fresh fig being sold in my area here. i only seen the dried fig and the price is very expensive. In fact, i never tried eating it yet. It is good for what purpose? I never take the interest to buy and eat it. Care to share more about it in here? Just curious to know more.

I have a young fig tree in my garden and I got my first figs this year. Fresh figs are very perishable : we find them in markets here, but not in stores, where only dried figs are available like in your country -- I have never tried to use them in a soup --.
To have figs you need not only a fig tree but also an insect pollinator. The scientific name of this insect is Blastophaga psenes. If it is not present in your area, you will not get figs on fig trees.
