Why is it hard for him to accept his mistake?

Yesterday, an academe group filed a complaint at the Senate' ethic committee regarding Seantor Sotto's plagiarism issue. Earlier, the daughter of the late US Senator Robert F Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy already sent a letter urging him to apologize because of copying his father's part of speech without acknowledging it. Sotto kept his stand that he copied it from a text message. Yesterday, Sotto also say sorry to Kennedy but it is not clearly to accept his mistake. So why say sorry? He even said that copying or imitation is the highest form of flattery. And look who is talking. He don't even admit that he copied those part of his speeches. I wonder why he can't just apologize and admit his mistake. That will never make him a lesser man.

I guess he already said his apology over that speech since he knew that these group are lobbying to have him disciplined in the ethics committee. Although the kind of "sorry" that is not the sincere type. I do not know if that is acceptable for the complainants that filed it.

He said sorry but still he did not admit his mistake so what's the sorry for then. The complainants only demand is for him to admit his mistake and make a public apology. I wonder makes him hold back. Pride maybe. Thanks for the response.

I think you are right.... It is the good ol pride that has taken over his senses for now. I think it is quite humiliating asking for sorry in his current stature. They feel they are like demi gods and godesses that are omnipotent from mistakes. Doing this would just make him less of a senator. I am just analyzing his frame of mind. That is why I think those that filed complaint should pursue it until the ethics committee would tackle this and provide the necessary sanction against him for defying what many wants to happen with him.

I guess if he says sorry then it will mean he is guilty of plagiarism and he might be penalized for it. I don't know what the penalty for plagiarism is but I think the impact will be big for Senator Sotto since he is a public official. His credibility will also be blemished if he straight out admit that he indeed copied that speech. I think we better keep our eyes open on this one.

It's because of his ego he cannot accept his mistakes. What is the used of a celebrity in the Senate. It's not his mistakes, it's mistakes also of the people who vote's him to put in the higher level of our legislation. People should be aware what's happening to our government because of those people who don't know how to run the country. They used only their reputation and most of the decision they made are from their advisers

Hi, Its a typical caught-in-the-act situation yet kept on seeking for a way out in order to save face. Some people are like that, too thick faced to admit they are wrong, politicians mostly, who thrive on shamelessness for their daily bread. Onion skinned ones don't survive on the political arena and those who do are considered veterans that are not easily cowed short of dropping an atomic bomb on them.
