CON is a reserved name. Others are: PRN, AUX, NUL, LPT1, COM1, any potential drive letter name - A: to Z: - and a number of others. If you try to name a folder using one of these reserved names, the name will automatically revert to the default, generally "New Folder". The restriction goes back to the days of DOS where these names are used to represent specific devices which can be written to and read from in a similar way to the way that folders and files can be handled. You cannot name a folder (or a file) with any of these names because the system would become terminally confused!
