I was at work the other day when I heard a Christmas song come on from the playlist our store plays. I thought it was so early to even be playing that halfway through November. Usually the stores start on Black Friday or wait until the first of December.
For some reason I just can't stand Christmas music and every year it just gets on my nerves. What's even worse is working in retail and hearing the music play all throughout December every single shift lol. It's only been the second day of me hearing it at work and I'm already tired of it.
I love the holidays don't get me wrong...I just can't stand the music that plays. ANd now it's starting to play wayyyy too early for me lol.
How do you feel about Christmas music?

Everywhere seems to be putting up decorations and and stuff earlier and earlier each year. They used to wait until at least Thanksgiving but now you start seeing the Christmas stuff before Halloween!

I think people who own the stores are worried its going to be a bad holiday season for them.

I do enjoy Christmas, but those who work on retail, like you, often get tired of it and other Christmas things rather quickly, and it's understandable.
I have a few very favorite songs: "O Holy Night", "Carol of the Bells", and, although it's not stricly Christmas, "A Few of my Favorite Things".

The only thing I get tired of is the music. It just gets on my nerves. I love decorations and Christmas trees though. There are a few songs I do like but it's the ones that don't really have words, I don't know the name of it but I hear it every year and I like it. I've even heard an electric guitar re-make of it in a tv commercial or something

when you work in retail you do get annoyed with christmas because you see it a lot. I used to work for Marks and Spencer and we used to start getting the first lot of christmas stock in as early as June so i does get rammed down your throat a bit.

I love Christmas, Christmas decorations, and Christmas music....but I do like to wait until the day after Thanksgiving in order to decorate and to listen to Christmas music. I like to appreciate all holidays and I think one month is plenty of time to celebrate Christmas.
So, yes. I think we should be waiting about 1 more week until doing the whole Christmas thing but oh well...
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

I think we should wait too. Maybe that's part of the reason why I don't like Christmas music anymore. I used to love it when I was a bit younger but it seems that in the past few years, I can't stand it. It's probably because it gets overplayed and is played too early before Christmas.
I love the decorations and seeing the lights though. Every year there's this one house near my boyfriend that puts lights literally all across their roof and lawn. I think it was even named the brightest house in Davie last year or something like that. It's actually pretty cool to see because the lights are so bright, it's almost magical.

I've not heard it at work yet, thankfully. I honestly forget when they started playing it at work but I think it was shortly after Thanksgiving, they may have even waited until December itself. I did hear some at Kmart though, and thought "oh no." The radio station that usually plays it has already started here as well.

Lol be thankful you haven't heard it yet at work. I remember last year my old store started playing it the night of Thanksgiving when we opened for Black Friday. And I believed they played it all the way up until January.
I'm so surprised my job has already started. It seems like it's going to be a long holiday this year lol

One of my friends who works retail has the same feelings about Christmas music. She starts doing (often somewhat inappropriate) parodies of the songs.
I don't work retail and don't usually shop in chain stores, so I haven't been running into the Christmas music. Since we've now set up the television, though, we have been running into some Christmas commercials; however, we tend to DVR things, so we can just fast forward through the commercials.

That is the beauty of a dvr! I rarely watch shows in "real time". I almost always watch them off the dvr and I just skip all the annoying commercials.
What I can't seem to escape though is the music :( I unfortunately work retail and it's already started at my store..and it's still November. That's funny that your friend does parodies. I'm sure that once I spend enough time at work I might be able to do the same lol

Lol, I know a few people who are already blasting the Christmas music in their homes. A good friend of mine was on Facebook about a week ago complaining about his wife already breaking out the Christmas music lol. Its way too early for me too. I say wait at least until after Thanksgiving. I take my holidays one at a time lol.

Haha I like to take my holidays like that too. I don't like getting ahead of myself with all the holidays clumped so close together. I actually used to enjoy Christmas music until it started getting played so early by all the stores and radios

Haha that's too funny. I couldn't imagine putting up decorations that early. My boyfriend's mom starts decorating literally the day after Thanksgiving. Even that is a little early for me. AT my house we start probably the first week of December and we go out and buy our tree and decorate it. Any earlier would seem to early for me. Once the decorations are up I really start to get in the Christmas spirit and look forward to it. But with early decorations I start to get bummed out that Christmas seems to take longer to get here because people put up the decorations in November and October lol.

we love it! its nice to hear it already. here in Canada, our THanksgiving was in OCtober so we have had Christmas stuff up since the beginning of November.
my 15 year old daughter is a Christmas fanatic and already reported to me that she has found two radio stations that already play nothing but Christmas music, one here in a smaller city than where i am but not too far away and another one is Buffalo, NY (which is about an hour away from where we live).
i have to say that the Buffalo one sort of surprises me just because i would think they would wait until the US Thanksgiving is over first before they started playing Christmas music.

We used to play Christmas in the office once in while now and even some radio stations are playing it too.It really shows that Christmas is fast approaching. It really feels so exciting and refreshing every time I hear Christmas songs and somehow brings happiness very time it is played.

I think that you are right i hate christmas music and i agree that its played in shops way to early i used to work in a supermarket and you would hear the music for months and it would drive you mad. I think that christmas is getting far to commericalised and businesses are just using it to make money.

Yeah it really is getting nuts. I love the decorations and tress..I just can't stand the music at all. ANd Black Friday just seems to open earlier and earlier every year. Last year my mall opened at 9pm Thanksgiving night and this year it's doing the same but other malls are also joining in.
I don't mind Christmas sales and decorations at shops or in homes, but I do mind listening to the Christmas music for months.
