I can't stand the smell when I opened our refrigerator yesterday afternoon. After checking the cause, I found out that it is not working anymore so the water from the freezer flowed down to the lower portion of the fridge causing the things inside it to get spoiled.
I am already expecting that one or all of our appliances will not function anymore because of the on and off power supply. Since no one is at home the whole day who could check whenever there was a power failure, I am already certain that one of this day, I will facing this kind of problem.
Well, since I cannot do anything about it, I am now obliged to buy a new refrigerator.

Constant power cut off will surely damaged your appliances.
I suggest you buy an AVR to regulate the power once it resume.
A no-frost fridge is also good so you do not need to worry about foul odor with defrosted waters.
Try not to stock perishable foods especially meat and fish to avoid food wastage.

There's not much difference when it comes to electric bill.
Let's say maybe an additional of 300 pesos- that depends on how much you were consuming.
My monthly bill usually cost 1,500/month- since we changed our old fridge with no-frost my bill ranges from 1,900-2,100 (variably due some occasions eg. having guests, un-attended appliances working while there's no one using esp tv sets, fans -kids you know)

Yes, I will buy an AVR for a refrigerator this time. I will also consider buying a no-frost refrigerator. But how about the power consumption of that? Does a no-frost fridge consume more electricity than an ordinary one?
Thank you for sharing!

Oh well, I think the ordinary refrigerator will do. I will just buy the latest design if I have my mansion already.
Thank you for the additional information.

That is really one of the causes why appliances are destroyed. Here in our place, it has been a week already that we have power interruptions. It become even worst because we have power interruptions twice a day. Imagine 2 hours without electricity and twice a day. The power has just returned. Now I can do mylot.

You're right Aries. For my ref, I have an apguard connected in between the ref and the outlet. It regulate the flow of current. I don't know if this is the correct statement. When the power is back, the current will not immediately go directly to your ref. It will wait for I guess 20 minutes before it flows to your ref. Why not use it too.

Hi.
This is a long time problem in our country and I don't think there is a way to make a permanent solution to this. What we can do perhaps is to learn how to cope up with the situation.

You'd better send for someone who knows a lot about refrigerator. If it is only an electricity power, you don't need to buy a new one. I don't know if you have lots of money and think of having a new one in mind, that could be a good idea.
I have owned a fridge for 18 years and it still works well till now.

Wow! That was a long time of service. you will have to send a debut party for your ref. he he.
I am really waiting for the technician to come before I go to the appliance store so that I could let it be checked first before I buy a new one.
I just thought that maybe my refrigerator needs to rest already. But if the technician will tell me it is still okay, then I have to postponed my plan of buying a new one.

hi friend, so you turn your ref off and on directly on the unit? I would presume that is what you do, am I right? Well I turn my ref off at night when it's cold and turn it on in the morning when temp starts to rise and I never damaged it. What i do is that the ref is not directly plugged in to the socket but i let it pass through a power supply similar to an AVR in my pc, it guards the motor from power surges as well as the shock of turning it off and on. The power supply also steadies the voltage before it enters the unit. Have it checked first, perhaps you do not have to buy a new unit, in our country it's more economical to have the motor changed so long as you get a good and qualified technician. If no one is at home the whole day, then why not turn it off directly in your circuit breaker or fuse box?

Oh,I turn the unit off and on through the off and on switch of the power supply instead of on the ref knob

Hi louie!
I think I can't do anything about the unit anymore. I presumed it needs a replacement already. Maybe I have to buy a regulator for the new unit. It would not be good if we don't have refrigerator this coming holiday.
Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas!

The only thing I know about that is that it can cause damages to appliances. :)

Hi toxic life!
It really do. Especially on the most sensitive appliances, like air conditioning units and computers. It's okay with a television because most often, when the power supply was cut, the television will automatically set on a standby mode.

Oh. I feel for you. I think it is best to turn it all off and unplug it if ever nobody will be left at home. But I think it is too impossible to turn off the fridge specially if there are things inside that need to be frozen. Tsk. That's a problem. Yeah, just buy a new one and just try to ask the personnel if what to do if those case will happen again and nobody is at home. I mean what kind of act should you do in advance before leaving.

Hi fatlex!
Yes, we really should do that thing. I just have to buy a new one because I think that it is not anymore practical to send the fridge to the technician because we have been using this for several years already. Although my mom's refrigerator is older than this one and yet it is still working.

I also experienced the same. Our fridge also stopped working but we don't turn it on and off often, only when we're going to be out for days and there are not food to keep frozen. I'm not surprised thought since we bought it for a very cheap price. Although now we don't have any fridge, and it has been weeks like this. We are obliged to eat everything before they spoil. I never thought we could live like this but it's actually possible.

Hi friend!
I am now planning to buy a new one and maybe this time I have to unplug it before going to work and put it on upon returning home in the afternoon. I'll just make more ice in order to hold the temperature inside.
Refrigerator isn't that cheap so we have to take care of it while we can.

Hi Raine!
Exactly! That is our problem at times. But I was able to address that one by making some ice which could hold the temperature inside the fridge whenever there was a power interruption.

The machines or any gadget will be broken due to the effect of fluctuation of electricity. I hate the fact, I had once brought my laptop in an isolated place. It broke down, it is inevitable not to have power supply. Since it is the basic necessity to live or to survive in the community level, essential to work-related concern.

Hi shavkat!
Oh, that's sad. We really need electricity in order to perform our daily task so hopefully, those person in charge would also do their best in order to give the best service to the people.
