How do you have a perfectly boiled egg?

I wonder if there are rules and techniques to boiling eggs. What I do with mine is boil it with low fire, then I'd put the fire high for a short while and when it boils, I turn the fire off. However, many times I'd end up with some eggs with broken shells, the contents spilled out. It seems like I have never really mastered the simple art of having a perfectly boiled egg. Do you have any techniques? Please share.

It is not difficult for me since I have a machine which can cook different kinds of boiled egg. It is small and you can make five eggs together. It offers you a cup and there are some marks on it. Such as it will write down how much water you shall use if you want a half boiled egg. After that, just press the button and everything will be done in a few minutes.

For a hard boiled egg, I place the eggs in cold water. When the water comes to a rolling boil, I let it boil 8-10 minutes. Then I remove the pan from the stove, drain the hot water and let the eggs soak in cold water (or let cold water run on them) until the egg is cool to the touch.

HI Stout. I think that is the traditional way of boiling eggs. I remember my parents always soaked the eggs in cold water after boiling them.

Hi After placing the eggs in cold water the shell is not coming properly i mean the meat is sticking to the shell and the eggs is not good to look at.

Sometimes it breaks too. However I prefer to eat half boiled egg. I normally bring the pot of water to boil. Off it and put the egg in and cover for 5 minutes. Just nice for half boiled egg - the way I like it! If you want it to be fully hard boiled egg, then can continue to boil in slow fire.

Oh. So that is how you do half-boiled eggs. I am already of age but I still have not perfected this art of cooking boiled eggs. LOL

I've never really boiled an egg before by myself. But I have heard that instead of boiling them on the stove, you can "boil' them in the oven and pretty much bake them. All you do is put the eggs in a muffin tin and pop them in the oven. I heard that the shells are easier to break off afterwards too.

Hi cutie I too have this doubt. I have seen on some Tv show they said that boiling eggs for 5 to 10 minutes is okay and it will be perfectly done. But when i followed it i didn't find the egg perfectly boiled. It appears as half boiled which i dont like and the shell also breaks and the liquid comes out.

You mean the whole egg with the shell will be boiled along with the rice porridge? Don't you think it will make the rice porridge dirty?

I like my eggs soft boiled so I don't keep them on the stove for too long. What I do is I first get the water to a boil without the eggs in it. The once the water is boiling I put the eggs in and let them boil for about 3-4 minutes. I also find that they're easier to peel if I boil them in salted water. That's what works for me, hope it helps.
