My home town of Austin, Texas is hosting the Grand Prix Races this weekend. The practice races are today and tomorrow with the real deal being held on Sunday. Apparently, this is a real big deal, fans and supporters have come in from all over world. They tend to be on the wealthy side. They go to the race track in the daytime and out and about in the evening. it is bringing a lot of money into the city but also some headaches such because of street closures and heavy traffic.
The race itself will be televised all over the world on Sunday.
Any mylotters familiar with this race which seems to have three names?

Though I am a fan of motor sports, I really don't know anything about the Formula One races. The reason is that it is just not something that is visible around here. Instead, I'm a fan of Nascar and I've started to learn a little bit more about Indy Car racing (due in no small part to the fact that I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Indianapolis 500 last year).
I know that the road closures and such due to a major race like that is a headache, but I know that the increased revenue is a great thing for the city.

It might be that the F1 races are new to the United States. I know very little to nothing about motor sports but I have at least heard of Nascar. I am not a sports fan of any kind which includes motor sports.
The race was very successful. The whole three day weekend was very successful. Formula One will be coming back to Austin every year for a certain amount of years. There were a few hiccups , but this was the inaugural race. The drivers and everyone else seemed very pleased with Austin and the racetrack. So did the fans.
The road closures and the increased traffic and crowds were headaches for some but this race brought in a lot of money to the city and a lot of world wide recognition. I had no idea that it was such a big thing.
There was a Formula One Fan Fest in downtown Austin. This included exhibits, booths and live music. I went down Sunday afternoon when the crowds were at the racetrack. I took some pictures and will try to eventually upload some of the pictures on mylot.

Grand Prix is big in Malaysia as our capital city of Kuala Lumpur is one of the stops. Although I am not really a big fan of motor-sports, when the F1 race is on, I and my friends will all watch it live on TV. The event does bring in a lot of tourist dollars into the city that organizes it.

The event is bringing in fans and tourists from all over the world. The persons coming in seem to be very well to do and they are spending a lot of money in our city. Thus far, everyone seems to be having a wonderful time.
The race will be televised all over the world this Sunday.
