I hope I won't be declared as AWOL or Absence Without Official Leave

Usually when I am being absent during working days I am informing my boss by sending him text messages that I won't be able to go in the office for some reason. Again I am always doing that ever since and contented that I am only sending that single text message to one person which is my boss. I know he is always receiving it even though he is not replying on my text messages. There were times that he even informed our Secretary that I was absent for some reason. There was a time that when I've sent him text messages that I can't be able to go in the office due to problems then he even asked the secretary if something happened to me since he have received my text messages indicating a problem. Last Wednesday I've decided not to go at work during that time due to the high temperature of my fever. I've already sent text messages to the boss in the morning around 9:00 to 10:00 am indicating that I will be absent during that time due to my heavy fever. Again since he is the person who is not really replying if not being asked then I am already expecting that he had already received my text messages about my absence. Then the next day I wasn't able to go to the office again, but then I've already sent another text message in the evening to my boss indicating that I can't be able to go to office on Friday or next day since I need to go to the hospital for the medical check up. Then yesterday which was Friday I already informed my officemate to switch the Saturday schedule since I need to rest for today to lower down my temperature. The secretary sent me text messages asking if I am still going to work since I wasn't able to inform our boss. I am thinking that our boss is asking if I am going to the work today which is Saturday since I haven't inform my boss on Friday itself that I won't be able to go at the office on Saturday but indeed it was just the officemate that I've informed. I replied to the secretary regarding about that. Surprisingly! that really made me shocked!!!!! the secretary sent me text messages again indicating that I was supposed to inform my boss himself at the first day of my absence because if not then that is what you called Absence without official leave or AWOL, and my boss thought that I have plans not to go at work forever! then it was also indicated that if I won't be able to go at work that could be okay. Another text message that I received was that I just only informed the other officemate just yesterday. So then that is the time I've decided to call and explain my side that I was able to sent text messages to our boss twice which was Wednesday morning and Thursday night. I asked the secretary if our boss hadn't really received my text messages that I've already informed him? Then the secretary told me that next time I should also informed the office as well or call them so that if in case that our boss hasn't receive any text messages or information then they will be the one who will inform our boss. Now I learned my lesson not to be contented to sent text messages just to only one person, and hoping that I didn't deleted the text messages that I've sent to my boss so that I would still have my evidence that I've informed him twice. Since I used to it that was the only thing I did. I am worrying now when I get back to office on Monday if what could be the result? And I am thinking if how could my boss will believe to my explanation if I can't even prove the evidences? I was so nervous to the possibility that will happen. I thinking if they thought I've already applied for another job and hired. As much as possible this is the thing that I am avoiding to do that is why I am careful with this matter of not informing them about my condition and the reason that I will be absent. I am not a type of person who wants to make missing in action and as much as possible if I want to resign then of course I still have the sense of decency to inform them that I will resign.

That is good to hear you have sick hotline in case of emergency that will happen to you. In my case I am not into trouble by the time that I got back into office last Monday. My boss just asked me if what happened to me then he already explained the things that I should do in the office for the layout of my design.

Well, you should provide yourself with a medical certificate as a proof the you really got sick. There is no problem about it for as long as you are telling the truth. Have nice day!

I am now hoping that he is going to believe with my statement that I've already informed him. I think it is not about the absent itself that was been issue here but the fact of informing him why I am absent.

I think that it is never a good idea that you send a text message to your boss letting them know you are not coming into work. Because you never know if they got your text message or not and then also I believe it is just so informal you know. I think the next time, you should just call and ask to speak to your boss and let him know you are not coming in. So then you would know that he got your message. If he doesn't answer the phone that is then when you call into the office and leave a message with whoever is there to take the messages and let them know that you cannot come in that day. That is just the best way or even better yet, if you leave a message with your office mates, let them know you can't come in, but also to make sure that he gets the message, you have him call you back or even just send you a text message that he received your message. That's the best thing to do so you won't wind up with another mistake like this again. How did it go when you returned back to work?

That is the reason why companies or bosses prefer that the employee calls them whenever they will be on leave and provide a medical certificate as proof that he/she was sick during their absence. You have to be extremely careful about this since this will reflect on your overall performance. Be sure to bring a medical certificate once you report for work and sincerely apologize for the confusion. It is better not to erase your sent messages as proof that you did text your Boss. All the luck to you...

That is the problem I've already deleted all the sent messages so that is the thing that I need to explain further much that I've did it twice. I almost want to contact the service provider if I can retrieve it. But then let me see the result of our conversation if how the boss would still believe on my explanation. So goodluck to me. Actually our office is not that so strict when it comes to absences as long as they will be informed. But there you go that is frustrating part that there was something wrong with the signal.
