I've been working for oDesk for almost a year now but I signed-up 2 years ago. I can say it's a reputable site and I personally get some earnings from them. You have the option to make a full-time career or a part-time job in oDesk. But if you want to earn something that's enough to pay for your living, it's best to go full-time. But don't quit your current job while looking for possible positions online. The hiring process is not that consistent. The trick is to send as many applications you want as long as you think you are qualified for the job. Taking the tests available could raise the chance of getting hired. And don't forget to build your portfolio as well.

I am not working at Odesk but my regular customer and my friend does. She is still a student and have a good English language skills. She earn $50 and up in a week. I just meet her online and she used to en cash her PayPal earnings to me. We're very good friend right now and we really trust each other. I think she is a good earner in the site and have established her profile. She invited me to join Odesk but when I checked the site, I think I am not good to do the jobs and that there are so many freelancers who can do better than my performance.

i know someone who has been working for Odesk for several years now. He does earn money from this site. The type of work he's doing actually varies. If you're a multiskilled person then you'll have an advantage among others. He makes more money with programming works. There are a lot of data entry jobs offered there but it pretty hard to get that. It's a very easy task an a lot of bidders are trying to get the work. You have the have a very good profile to stand out. I would recommend that you take the tests first before you start applying for jobs. You can also try elance.com or freelancer.com.

I've had a couple of contracts these past two months and made some decent part time income but I would never consider Odesk a full time job. There's a lot of competition and well everyone is looking for the same thing, to make money online. It's already difficult enough to get hired with everyone else applying for the same thing you are so you need to build your profile and make it look good to stand out from the rest. The amount paid for work is different with every job but I have noticed data entry is usually well underpaid.

Hi shilran. oDesk is a legit site to find jobs such as freelance writing. I had been paid by one of their clients and I am happy about trying to apply for some jobs. It's my first time to accept an invitation to work because before I don't have a stable internet connection. But be careful too, not all the clients are legit. You must check first if they have paid some workers before, check the feedbacks. I have encountered some clients who don't have any history and don't have a profile picture. Those made me withdraw my application after few hours. Better be safe than sorry. Taking several exams will give you more chances to apply jobs and choose the best one for you in terms of rate and the requirements. Good luck!

I am a member in Odesk but it is conflict for because of my schedule. They have more projects and some have difficult task to do. My friend or former classmate is a long time Odesk and he was given a Odesk T-shirt that saw in Facebook. I do know what projects he has done to Odesk.

I recently became a member there. It's not easy to build a reputation. There's also a lot of competition there. It's hard to land a job despite them being so many available there because there are tons of talented people who are more experienced and skilled than I. Another thing is I don't like the idea of bidding to get a job. You are forced to lower pay and shorter amount of time to do the work. For experienced people in this site, it is a big advantage. For those who are just starting, it will take a lot of time and effort. Haha, I did poorly at the test there. I admit, it's all mostly because I am lazy. But I believe if you work hard and you are passionate about your work, then you'll make it there. Thank you also for this discussion. I learned a lot of tips.

Odesk is a legit site for sure. But then we need to bid for the different assignments in different categories of interest over there. You need to bid for an amount within the budget of the client. It should also be feasible for you as well. There is no fixed salary or things like that. You will earn according to the amount agreed for the assignment between you and the client.I have been in odesk for almost an year.I have got three jobs so far and have been happy to earn from them.It has contributed well to my online earnings.Compared to other freelancing sites, i have found odesk to be easy and convenient to me.I think it is one of the best site for freelance working. The earning potential and meeting different clients is much better. But then earning depends on the efforts you do on the things and assignments in odesk. There is a rating system also to ensure the quality of freelancers and this is based on employer feedback. So ensure the standards and things.I do believe odesk is a good place to earn and make money. So far the experience has been good.Looking forward to earn more in odesk.Hope that helped. Thanks!

I was working for an Odesk contractor before and he is already a 5 star contractor. But I decided to create my own Odesk account. I thought it's going to be easy because the way I look at it, the Odesk contractor where I've worked for has multiple jobs in Odesk but I just figured it out that it's not easy to get a job there. The competition is so stiff. I think it is easier to land a job or get a project from Freelancer.
