I know previously years people have gotten up at 12-1 oclock in the morning to got stand in lines at stores, waiting for them to open the doors for all those great bargins..There are hundreds of people standing in line at Walmart to purchase a 32 inch TV for $222.00, which is a great deal if you can get on..But this is the stinke, there are so many people in line waiting and the store only have 10 TV's...LOL...its a real joke.. People have lost thier lives, getting caught in the melee... I have never gotten up that early to go spend my money..and that will continue not to even give it a thought... What about you, have you every experiences such a task on such a day as Black Friday...???

I have only been black friday shopping one time. It was an utter nightmare. I worked with a disabled teenager at the time. She was mentally and physicall disabled. She weighed in at around 300 pounds and she had a very bad temper. She just had to go to Target and the mall on black friday. There were no handicapped parking spots to be had and we had to hoof it for what seemed like a mile through the parking lot then the store was so crowded. Never again. I might buy something online on black friday but I will not venture out to the stores.

It was my job. My client had a treatment plan and one of her goals was to go shopping on her own and spend her money wisely. So off to Black Friday we went. Never again!

OMG Shelly, I have to ask, "what were you thinking to even attempt that trip...I can certainly understand why that trip would have left a very bad taste of Black Friday in your heart...

I do not shop on Black Friday unless I HAVE to go out to get something. The last time I went out on Black Friday to shop it was much later in the day. The Target we were living by still had many of the deals left over form that morning. Black Friday wasn't really big in that area. Honestly, I am not sure I have ever lived somewhere that black friday was a huge deal.

Hi sedel I just used Target as an example, it could have been Walmart, Best Buys, Radio Shack, any store having a huge sale on Black Friday.. I happens all over when Black Friday arrives with their sales..I think it was in Long Island New Year last year or the year before when some employee of Walmart was killed when the doors opened and the rush of so many people just trampled over him...

Oh, I know many, many stores open early. I just do not think that Black Friday is as popular in some areas of the country. I have talked to quite a few people of the area in the subdivison we live in and none of them are black friday shoppers. My hair dresser and the girls working in the shop today also said they do not bother with Black Friday. I have found that most people already most of their holiday shopping done already. If you pay attention to sale,s you can get better deals during the year on most items than you can get on black friday. For example, buying toys when Target has their end of season sales. The last 2 years I purchased all of my daughters toys for Christmas and her birthday that way. I got everything 75% off. You aren't going to see that on Black Friday.

Hi BJ, I have never been black Friday shopping and no desire to. I hate crowds and we don't exchange expensive gifts anyway so for me, I'm good with just avoiding the stores on that day.

I am in the same boat as you. However, I have gone black friday shopping before and found a couple of good deals. But you are absolutely right, I don't find the deals worth it to get trampled, or even to have to deal with the craziness of the malls. People go absolutely insane. I try to distance myself from stores and malls during and after Black Friday. People take "bargains" way too seriously.

I can't even stand the crowds in Walmart on a regular weekend. No way am I getting out of bed to go stand in line with a bunch of bargain-crazed whackos just waiting for the chance to trample everyone in their paths for the last Tickle Me Elmo or whatever this year's hot thingamabob is. Besides, I already finished my Christmas shopping for this year. The only thing I really need to get is a few more stocking stuffers.  :)

I have only shopped once on Black Friday and that was to get a laptop computer. Other than that in 2010 Randy wanted to get a Blu-ray player and it was a great deal. I made him go by himself to get it. While he was standing in the cold I was at home in our warm bed. I may shop online for cyber Monday (at least on amazon's site I will because I see two items I want to get). I will buy a weaving loom kit for my seven year old niece and if I can find something for my 10 year old nephew. I have 10.00 in my amazon account so that will help. Never again will I shop on black Friday. I know a lot of stores will be starting their Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving night.

Hi yes there are a lot of stores that is trying something different to prevent the melee that usuallly happen in the previous years...So pehaps this will be a better plan by opening late night on Thanksgiving...

I've only actually shopped black friday once. And yes the big ticket items you are right are limited quantity so either be there first in line or don't bother. Unfortunatly I work retail so no I won't be ready I'll be exhausted. I'll be running on sleep from Wednesday night... unless I can get a 2-3 hour nap in before heading out which I doubt. I'm not looking forward to it at all. Actually I'm nervous about driving home on next to no sleep and working an 8hr shift.

Hi bjc, I don't mess with all the Black Friday craziness. For several years now, I have been doing all of my Christmas shopping online. Online shopping is so much easier. By the way, I am happy to be the first response in this discussion. LOL. Happy Thanksgiving!

That just crazy, I won't do that even though it is a great deal for this year now. On the previous year, I went with a friend of mine to get the some items, but it is not worth the wait though. With such line, and like you said, the store got limited items there too. I might just stay put at home, and wait for the right moment to shop.

STOUTjodee I hope as an employee you get first pick on the great deals..that should be a perk for those who work there.. I think it's too bad to have to come in on Thanksgiving eve...you should be paid triple if you do...

bjc66bjc I don't like crowds especially in stores in fall and winter..too many bacteria and viruses floating around... I guess my study in Microbiology really affected me I don't even know that the specials are worth it..seems to me there are sales all the time. Also you had a good point that the really good deals are limited in quantity...

There is nothing I can comment about the bacteria and viruses in winter , fall ,or anything other time..People who have things to do and want to do are just not so worried bacteria..sometimes one must do what one must do...and Black Friday is once a year so for those who want to experience the sales, I guess they just do it.. Have a wonderful bacteria and virus feel Thanksgiving...

We just started Black Friday here in Canada. As many have said people would go to the US and shop then we lost out. I wouldnt be getting up either, I hate crowds, and I am sure people are insane in these type of situation. Its not worth me risking my life for something cheapier.

I once did shopping on Black Friday and never again! Usually people are rude in the stores anyway, but when it comes to bargains, they're even ruder. I went one time with an elderly lady to shop on Black Friday. They had dvd players for a good price. She wanted one and I wanted one. She was shorter than I am so she was trying to get one and some guy just about trompled over her. So I just reached over her, so she could get out and got two of them, one for her and one for me.

STOUTjodee I few years ago my daughters thought it would be 'fun' to experience Black Friday and also maybe get some killer deals..When they pulled into the parking lot there were so many people it turned them off and they kept driving and never repeated the experience..

Well, coming from someone who has worked Retail on Black Friday, this is not something I have ever really wanted to do since is Shop on Black Friday. Especially be one of the ones who go shopping at like 1 a.m. in the morning. I know a lot of these places have some Great Sales going on, but in reality it is safer to be at home, and shop online.
