how many of your discussions here have died?

I mean discussions you have submitted but which did not get any response. I have quite a number now, in fact I have lost count of them. Or have all your discussions been responded to? If not, what do you think accounts for the death of some of your discussions? I don't know, but I don't see any reason why some of my discussions should go unresponded. Share what you think.

Very few of my discussions received a large number of responses, but I have been fortunate in that every one so far has at least received one response. It seems a little disappointing to get just one or two responses, especially if you feel that you have offered something worthwhile. Nevertheless, it would be much more of a disappointment to receive none at all. Whenever I create a discussion that gets no responses for the first couple of hours I feel rather apprehensive because it will have disappeared from the first page of the recent list after just a couple of minutes. That first response is always a great relief and I can live quite happy as long as one person responds.

Yes, if it doesn't get answered after some time, the discussion gets buried and gone from sight.

I have just scrolled through the first 10 pages of the discussions that you have created, and there was only one that had no responses. I responded to that one because it must be very disillusioning to have no responses at all. As I said previously I have managed to avoid that so far, but I expect that it will have to happen some time.

Yes, I also have a number of discussions with no response. They are mostly the ones I started in my early times of joining myLot. I can always think of a reason why, though. Among other things: * I did not have too many friends who were notified of my started discussion. * The friends who did receive the notifiers were not interested or cannot relate to the topic I started. * I posted the discussions at the time when myLotters who were happened to be online were not interested or cannot relate to response. * The discussions then get buried for not making it to 'recent' pages due to lack of response. * I put my discussions under 'general interest' which limit exposures to those searching for discussions under certain other or popular interests.

Hi! I am here for many years and except for the period when I was a green horn here, it did not happen with me that I did not get even a single response for my discussion. I try not to start discussions in bulk (as I've observed many do) and try that my discussion should be some interest to my friends here/fellow mylotters. In a rare case if my discussion is fetching very less responses, I request my friends to come and join and they do not disappoint me.

What for (mylot) friends are. There is nothing wrong in requesting them to check our post (you could also do so, as you have many (reliable) friends here).

Hi Dp! I have many friends here but I haven't made any request of that sort. Maybe I should. I have another topic which is about to be buried into oblivion. The other one already got answered by a friend, thanks to Asylum who went over the list of my posts and responded to one that was about to die already. That's so nice of him.

I guess I have but I don't know how many. Maybe, fellow mylotters here were so busy that time and didn't have the time to respond to me. I used to post a lot of discussions. I posted them simultaneously. One mylotter told me that I shouldn't do that. That might be the reason why I don't get any response. They were busy replying to some of my newer posts then they missed to reply to the older ones. Someone advised me that it's better to post one or two discussions every hour and reply to the responders first. I shouldn't post another or two without replying to the responders. I hope we'll receive some comments every time we post something. Another reason is that my posts aren't that interesting to others. Goodluck to us. May we have more comments to reply in each discussion we post. Happy mylotting.

Yes, you're right. Interest plays a big role in getting responses. If they are not interested so there's no reason for them to respond. Let's try our best to post interesting discussions.

Interest could be one big factor here because if only someone sees it as an interesting topic when it was first submitted, then it wouldn't be buried into the inside pages.

I only got few discussions but all of them has been responded. The bad thing is the number of people that responds are very few and it makes me sad. That's why i rarely star a new discussion.

When it comes to number, I have a few discussions with many answers and many with just a handful of responses. It all depends.

I have had discussion that got maybe one respond but I understand that because of the age gap here it might not be popular , like when talking about games dont expect to get a lot of respond since mylot dont have a lot of gamers . So I think the main reason is the majority age group here are not into what you are , and the interest its in could be the other reason .

I have no idea! I think it is funny how I start a discussion that I think will be a great one and there are no responses at all! lol Then I start one that I figure won't get but a couple of responses to see that the pages are filled! who knows what makes one better than the other and why some die?

All of my discussions I have at least gotten one response. I'm sorry some of yours did not get one. I don't understand why some discussions don't get any responses at all... I try to keep my discussions open to everyone, all ages and all people. I don't get too specific or I find less people respond...

Maybe when they are pushed away from the front pages after some time, they just die.

Perhaps those that seem to have a greater number of responders are those who have a friend relationship with the poster. It seems from some of the responses that I have read that some of the people 'know' each other. I am very new to mylot so I wouldn't begin to guess. The first discussion I posted got a lot of responses from my perspective. Maybe another would not consider those a lot. I have no idea what topics draw responses. It seems that it would be determined by the interests of those who are on mylot at the time of the post. I haven't had discussions deleted, but have had a couple of responses deleted. I didn't understand whether I violated the rules or the poster did. I will learn as I get more experience, though.

All of my discussions got a respond so far so I don't know why some of yours don't get a respond maybe you posted many discussions at a time. Maybe they can't relate on your discussions.

I don't know, it could be because they did not get any response while they were still on the first two pages that now nobody will see them when they are already several pages away.
